I have just completed week 8 and am loving the new me. Just a quickie, I get really out of breath for the first 5 minutes and feel shattered, but once this has passed I feel great and can run for 30 mins no problem. Does anyone else get this and any tips on how not to feel like this?? πŸ‘πŸ‘

Well done with your progress - you deserve to be really proud of yourself.

You are encountering the Toxic 10 - search on here and you will find the real version of what that is but my simple version is it takes your body about 10 mins to work out what the hell you are doing and how to get oxygen where you need it.

My solution has been to start my run really, really slowly until I am about 8 mins through. This seems to trick it/bypass it. And my first km split time was faster than usual when I did this first time - I must go so slow when it strikes me that it counters the earlier speed if I go off too quickly.

Enjoy the final runs - it’s only a tiny increase for the final week.

Go really slowly - then gradually increase pace as you feel more comfortable - I view the first 5-8 minutes as a warm up, I think we all find the first bit hard!

Good luck Tinks! I feel like that before I get out some days, but it’s so different by the time so get back. Not long the graduation for you now! 😁

Great replies to bear in mind too. ❀️

Toxic ten as Jay said. Sadly there's nothing you can do to prevent it entirely you just have to power through and know that things improve. Be glad though, some people suffer from the toxic 20 😲
