W6 r1 people are not so scary

Strangely today felt like a bigger mile stone than week 5 run 3 as for the first time in the entirety of this programme I ran at a time after 6:30 am in the morning, ofcourse running In the early morning is fine but for me it was almost solely driven by the fear of being seen by others whilst I ran. Today I ran in the early evening meaning that there were many many people around and actually I found I didn’t feel very self conscious atall and was too busy enjoying myself and the lovely view of the river I was running alongside. Didn’t find going back to the intervals too bad either.

Oh! So beautiful! Glad you conquered your fear and found you weren't self conscious after all :-)

What a beautiful place to run! That’s not Port Meadow in Oxford, by any chance, is it?

No it’s not , but it is elsewhere in Oxfordshire , so you are not far off!

Well done! It’s hard if you are a bit self conscious. After I first graduated I ran in front of people then hid again in the woods then suddenly last week went out in public again including bus loads of people, cars, pedestrians and school children and can honestly say I don’t think anyone really notices I’m there 😃😃

Yep I definitely identify with that too, very self conscious to begin with but much less so now (I’m also on week 6).

Brilliant! Well done and a great setting. It's a good feeling when you no longer feel the need to hide.

You've passed the dreaded 6.1... you're on the travelator now!! 👍😉

Well Done. I'm running Wk5 Run3 tomorrow morning. I run alongside a river too in Dorchester, Dorset. Bit apprehensive but looking forward to it. I run mornings or about 5pm depending on when I can fit it in. People always say hello whatever time of day.

I did w5r3 on Monday down on the canal with other runners whizzing past. I didn't feel out of place though as they were all friendly with a nod or a greeting. Makes a change from the week 1 terror of the local park and the yoofs of this village heckling me with" knees up granny" I'm doing w6r1 tomorrow back in the park. I dare them....

Sorry you had to deal with that hopefully they will have found something productive to do with themselves this time !

I thought it was just me being silly running outside. I am getting better though.

I’m finding it reassuring that other people relate to this too xD

Lovely place to run/

I felt very self-conscious too and dreaded bumping into anyone I knew. It didn't take long to get over it when I realised that no-one was that actually interested in what I was doing and it helped that I was zoned out plugged into headphones. Love your photo btw, what a gorgeous place to run you have!
