Well for starters I went out at 5pm instead of 5am. Lots of cars about, and even ran past a few fellow runners. Strangely what I was most self conscious of was people walking. But it was fine, I was listening to jo and my Spotify playlist, and every now and then the boring Strava guy.
So I went along the same route that I have done for my past few runs, so all week 3 has been the same route. I was planning on doing this run on the treadmill today as my boyfriend wanted to go to the gym but plans changed.
What was weird was that my warm up seemed shorter than normal, not by much but definitely shorter. Then the first 90 seconds I ran further than I normally do. The first 3 minute run and I was way further round than I normally am. I wasn’t intentionally going faster, but I think that first 90 seconds was a particularly speedy sprint. By the time I started my last 30 second run I was still further ahead than I normally am, but by nowhere near as much. And for the first time ever I finished running at pretty much the same place I started.
But overall, my time was slightly longer than run 2, and my average pace was 5 seconds slower. Not that I’m worried about speed, but obviously initially I was definitely faster than normal.
Very strange, but can’t wait to start week 4 on Thursday.

Congratulations! W3 complete! Well done for getting further too! It’s great that you don’t realise until you’ve finished and feeling fab! I wasn’t desperately unfit, but walking to the shop instead of getting in the car (thought to be quicker) was once a debate for me. I reckon it’s quicker to walk now! Especially at the C25K warm up pace! 😉 ❤️
Ha the weird thing is is that I didn’t actually get any further in total! Very strange run lol.
And yeah me either, wasn’t desperately unfit and had done quite a bit of running on a treadmill (I could probably run 10-15 minutes continuously).
I started doing C25K to try and get confidence to run outside and to obviously build up the stamina to actually be able to run 5k (I’ve done it a few times on the treadmill but always walked parts of it).
But yeah same here, when the weather started getting nicer I discovered a load of paths near me and went out for a walk one night and ended up by the gym. Turns out it’s actually only a 15-20 minute walk so I figured when I do go to the gym I’ll just walk instead! There’s my warm up and cool down done too and doesn’t add much extra to my day.
10-15 minutes on the treadmill is great! You’re way ahead of me. I used to avoid the treadmill myself! But, I did my first W1 run at the gym. Then due to no option I had to run on the road or postpone, so I decided to brave it and I haven’t looked back. Love it!! I’m a complete newbie to running, but every day is a new discovery! Best wishes for the next run and beyond! ❤️
Ha I did too! Then could only walk on it, was way too scared to run! Now look at me running past all sorts of things outside lol.
I do like running outside, it’s definitely more interesting than the gym. However I did a cheeky few minutes on a treadmill yesterday (it was a rest day, oops) and found it a lot easier to running on the paths!
