Too late?

I hope to get through the Couch to 5K process, but it is proving more difficult than I expected. Now aged 74, I haven't done any running for 32 years, since a couple of half marathons.

I'm sure if you take it steady and perhaps just repeat each week a few times you'll be fine. As long as you are moving you're doing more good than being sat on the sofa. Good luck to you!

I'm sure if you take it slow and steady you will soon pick it up again. Have you got the podcasts or the app on your phone. I used the podcasts with my C25K and found it so helpful. If I could do it at 52 having never ever run and following a mastectomy and lumpectomy as well as treatment for breast cancer, and having sudden damage to my inner ear which took away my balance I'm sure you'll find it a doddle coming back to it.

Good luck and happy running.

You done two marathons, impressive, I'm 72 and had no running experience since school, on week 8 now, you can do it, steady and slow is the key, good luck.

Calling Tbae to thread! :) Consensus is there's no such thing as too late. As long as you have no relevant medical problems you can do this! Super that you have done half marathons. As a previous runner you may have plenty of background knowledge, but do take a look in the FAQ posts in the pinned posts section for a wealth of advice.

You are spot on with your advice.👍👏👏

Never too late.🌟

We are gifted with an amazing piece of kit that can repair itself and providing we give it time to catch up with our brain, result.👏👏

83 year old lady graduated 2017.🌟

Google two men in a 100m race 92 and 98. Brillant.

Welcome Clive Woolley, you can do this, trust the programme and this amazing forum.

I know you have experience, easier for me as a 74 year old novice runner, you have to rebuild from scratch anyway, but you have stuff in the bank.

I get my free TV licence in 7 weeks🤔😂😂 and by that time you will have nearly graduated.

I will watch your journey with interest.

Enjoy it all.Slow and steady at your happy pace and no fear, only belief and enjoyment. They are the mantras of the two programme mentors.

This forum is the only place for you to be.🌟👏👏

I notice this is your first post.🤔

What week are you on.🤔

Which coach are you using.

Already been asked, are you using Laura’s podcasts.🤔

Have you had time to read the FAQ Posts.Essential reading.👍

We will help you.

This is a slow and steady adaptive programme.

The most common problem, and maybe for previous runners ,if not all, you will be going too fast.Slow down to a conversational pace to allow you to get the extra oxygen you need to run and reduce the risk of injury with your footfall under your hips lightly kissing the ground.

I hope you continue to ask the forum for what you need. We all have different needs.

Hope this helps and we keep hearing from you.

You can do this.🌟👏👏

I am on week 3, run 2 this pm. I am certainly not aiming for speed, just improving endurance. I am committed and will get there. Is Laura's podcast different from the C25k commentary? Thanks for your advice.

I used Michael Johnson C25k from NHS, no music, I did not know of Laura’s podcasts until I was well into the programme.

Laura is fabulous, the running form tips from Laura and MJ are pretty much identical.👍

Atb, enjoy it and keep asking the forum for what you need. The programme and forum will look after you.

I am sure the Admins will send you any links you need.

FAQ Posts helpful and interesting info.Essential really.

Enjoy it and we’ll done for rekindling a passion.🌟👏👏

I am a novice runner at your age, but pleased I am doing it now and with the support of this forum.🌟
