W7R3 - you won’t believe this.... (And is all an excuse for why the run felt so hard!)

Ok - let’s start by telling you my husband is an ex sea captain, that our company is 20years old this year and we bought a boat to celebrate and so he could recover his love of the sea...

What does this have to do with running?

Well - w7r2 was in Barcelona...stage 2 of the boat’s repatriation trip to Scotland. The bit I volunteered to do 3 nights of as I am not a big sailor and it was the easy bit down the coast....

Plan was Almeria after 3 nights - fly home - all back to normal

So....this morning.... after 6 nights that have included 72 hours of force 7, 3m swells and ultimately total engine failure resulting in a rescue by the Spanish coastguard (my new heroes!!) ...today while we wait for engineers to do their stuff (blocked pipes caused by 72 hours of slamming stirring up crud in engine - 4days works) I went with stepson for run.

We walked for 30 mins over a large hill to find a 2km strip with beach

I ran for 28 mins

Curiously, I felt like someone who hadn’t eaten for 3 days and who had been bracing their legs for 4

But I did it 😂

Will fly back in a few days - not sure if I will get to run before then....but at least I won’t be bobbing up and down! Currently my brain is convinced I am still on boat.

Ps it was scary - but with certified crew on board that included 1 captain, 2 chief mates and 2 chief engineers.... we were always in control of the situation - apparently it was ‘urgent’ but not an emergency - but with deteriorating conditions... a few more hours and it would have been entertaining!!

That sounds terrifying! Thank goodness you’re safe!

And of course your 1st thought on reaching dry land was to go for a run!

Take care!! 😀

Good grief Kat!

I hope you're recovering. Do you get a daily rum ration?

Bleugh!!

Oh Lord. You're one brave gal! Hope he appreciates your efforts. So is he hanging up his hat? Or do we have more adventures to tune into?

Love that you still fitted in a run. I'm not sure I'd even remember I was doing the C25K after all that...

Safe travels home.

A great post Katwpg. It's amazing how diverse the lives are on this forum and trying to run for 30 minutes is our one common goal! Well done for thinking it was still important after all that. 🌴🌊💨🌬⛵️
