Well I didn't make the entry for the London Marathon for 2020 I tried via the ballot and too nervous to try via a charity with the amount required to be raised also I did not feel right trying to raise money for a charity that hand on heart I did not support. So I looked at the Hospice that I have a great affinity with as both my Mum (2019) and Dad (1993) passed in the Pilgrims Hospice at Thanet and they had spaces available in the London's Big Half Vitality Marathon on the 1st March 2020 so I applied and that's it I am in. I have double checked today and had it confirmed no ballots no nothing first come first served basis. So wow first half marathon booked. Yes I have got to raise a set amount but I believe its much more manageable than the London Marathon. So the training will be stepped up in time. The event is a week before the anniversary of the loss of my mum and my graduation from C25K.

Just wondering now am I mad? Not sure if the done thing justgiving.com/fundraising/...

I like the Big Half, I did it for their first year and I did the little big half last year (2.4 miles) Great sights to see and lots of spectators too. It is amazing finishing off running round the Cutty Sark. You will be more than ready and what a great cause, enjoy your training. Rfc x.

How exciting! Well done and great to have such a personal connection with your charity. Mad? Perhaps a little but that makes life more fun.

This seems like a great race to enter and a very worthwhile cause and less pressure. Happy training.

Thanks again

Go for it 💪🏼 you can totally do it! I’ve signed up for a half next year too. Some charities provide training plans for people wanting to run a half marathon on their behalf. Coppafeel have a good one on their website.

We are progressing towards my target required for the charity. Once that’s achieved it will be a weight of the mind although it’s nowhere near the amounts needed for the London Marathon.
