Alzheimer’s and getting older

Just did health needs q’aire thing, and looks like my issue is what I know to be my feelings about handling mum’s advanced Alzheimer’s. Otherwise not bonkers. The program suggested writing this, so I am! I tend to block thoughts about it, but not her, when I’m not with her, but otherwise fairly sane 😛 Mildly annoyed at myself for getting older, like, how did that hapoen, but mild is the word. Phew!

Getting older is annoying. But it’s currently better than the alternative!

Deepest sympathy for you and your mum. My mum died in March after 10 years with Dr Alzheimer, and I was her Court of Protection Deputy for 5. So I know where you are.

I think the trick with getting older is to keep finding new goals. That's one reason I am running. It's too easy to think that there is nothing left to live for, and then giving up. Don't kid yourself that you are sane.... :)

I feel for you. My mum doesn't have Alzheimer's but since losing my dad she's totally dependant on me and my husband. I also hate this getting older and so try to stay positive and healthy. See the beauty around you and enjoy every minute. I know it doesn't remove the problems but gives you more strength to deal with them. Enjoy your running
