MENTAL HEALTH MOTIVATION RUN

Hey folks

I haven't personally posted for some time, however, I have been running and joined my friend as she has commenced the C25K programme. She's due to start wk 4, I've not done every run, think I've missed one of wk 2 and 2 of wk 3. She senses now that it is getting slightly harder, but she is enjoying it and calls me her coach 🤣🤣 gosh, I need a coach myself, lol.

We all have lots going on in our personal lives, sometimes it prevents us from running due to time, stress, etc. My mum is in hospital, has been for 2 weeks, went in with one thing and now acquired further conditions. So with that, plus 2 very lively puppies, it's been mega stressful to say the least. However, as much as I think about running, I really enjoy it, though I don't relish the start of a run, but I'm always chuffed to bits when I've finished and done at least 2 miles, when that's possible. I have ran for 3.1 miles in the past, but struggling to get back to that lately.

So, I've been doing the Stamina podcast and oh, how effective and good it is too. This morning I started and thought, I don't know, this doesn't sound right, however, I ran for nearly 5 minutes with quick footsteps and Laura chanting 1,2,3,4, but thought nope, this isn't right. It was only when I checked, I found out I started the Speed podcast 🤣🤣 no wonder I was panting more than usual.

So I clicked on the Stamina one and started again, lol.

I stopped for about 6 times, with just a 5 to 10 second quick walking break in order to catch my breath. I hate doing this, but it gives me chance to catch my breath and a bit more energy to keep going. So I probably lost under 2 mins, but my aim is to keep going and not to challenge my times just yet. My pace is so slow, I think the quickest I've done is about 11, but not to worry, I'm just a super slow runner trying to cram in a run when time is not good.

Those who have just started the C25K and finding it tough, don't give up, please try and keep going, I'm doing it to obviously keep me fit, but moreso for my mental health and the great feeling out leaves me with after I've finished that has to be worth the reason for doing it.

Anyway, thanks my lovelies and for always being here. I popped a pic of our pups in photo, Finley the lab is 7 months and little Alfie 6 months. Guess who is the boss? 🤣 Xx

Hi! Well done for getting out when you have such a lot going on! Hope your mum gets better soon!

Your little dogs are lovely! I’m seriously thinking of getting a dog although I have to convince my son who isn’t a fan!!

I keep meaning to do the speed and stamina podcasts again as I’ve got into a bit of a rut after completing the 10k plan I’m sort of without structure again but as you say it’s just such a great feeling after you’ve been out running I can’t imagine ever giving it up now!!

I tend to chant 1234 into myself on every run and it’s so annoying ha ha!!!! 😀🏃‍♀️

Oh how lovely to hear your story quirkybee! Good for you for getting out there and using your runs to reduce the stress levels. You’ve got a lot on, but your posts are inspiring others like me, so thank you very much for sharing.

You’re not alone in feeling like there’s only so many things you can do and I’m glad that one of the things you’re doing is for yourself. Best wishes for better times just ahead too! ❤️

So lovely to hear from you again. I have missed your lovely posts. Glad you are running and what a lucky friend you have. Whatever you do is good for mind and body. I am still slow but still doing it as like you I reap the benefits of mental and physical wellbeing afterwards if not at the time. Never did get on with stamina or speed podcasts but hearing from you makes me think I might try again, my playlists get very repetitive. See how inspirational you are!

Hope your Mum improves soon.

Love the dogs but what a lot of work! My one Lakie is a lot of trouble (as most Lakie's are) taken him for a few runs but all the stop/ start is too much! so he has to wait for his walks. Means I do an awful lot of steps on run days!

Quirkybee! It’s been too long! But lovely to hear from you again and that you are still running.

Sorry to hear about your poor mum though. 🙁 I do hope she recovers well and soon. What a worry. x

I love your pretty head band - is it a buff? Cute dogs too.

I run to keep cheery and ward off the “black dog” too, so I understand how important this is you. Keep running. You are a plucky soul. 👏👏👏

Good to hear from you quirkybee ....that is the kind of running that is perfect....putting too much pressure & thought into our runs can spoil them & when we set ourselves goals & don’t quite manage them it can be disheartening....so ‘no pressure’ runs when life has its own pressures are just the thing to clear our heads & help us deal with life. Your pups are gorgeous & I bet they’re a handful?! I’m sorry your Mum isn’t well Beth, hopefully it won’t be for long, having you to look after her will be a comfort to her I’m sure. Take care my lovely running friend, thinking of you xx
