A massive well done from an ex-smoker here. That's the hardest day over 👏🏻

It really is true that the fags create the extra stress in the 1st place with nicotine withdrawal & their "help" is an illusion. Sounds like you've a good plan and good determination. Good luck, it gets easier 😊

Get a kitchen timer that is Handy to carry. Set it to four minutes. Any time the craving hits, start the countdown. It is a proven fact that the physical craving lasts three minutes per episode - after that it really is habit and muscle memory. You might have to hit that button forty times a day for the first week or so, but it worked for me - I quit an almost forty year, pack a day weekdays two or more packs weekend days this way.

It can be done, it's not easy but it certainly is achievable. I'm off them five years now and cannot believe I never really smelled how bad cigarettes are, and make for starters.

Best of luck - remember, it's tough but my Lord is it ever worth it not to even just worry about ending your days dragging an oxygen tank around everywhere.

Very well done. Both for the smoking and your run. As a non smoker I can’t comment really but just wanted to send congrats to you. Take each day as it comes. You can do this. Good luck 👍

Well done 👍 2fat2furious ..

It’s a fabulous decision you have taken .

I am also on my quit .. it’s now 6 week and C25K is helping me a lot . (On C25K I just done w5r1 today ) . I would thank this community to keep me pushing for marching ahead In C25K.

There is also one community quit smoking on HealthUnlocked. I will suggest you follow that as well . I am following it and it’s a great motivator to keep strong on quit .

All the best 👍👍

I’m a year in of quitting. I also think smoke smells gross now, can’t believe you can’t smell it when you smoke. Two things - my eyesight improved and within a week people were complimenting me on my skin. They don’t tell you that happens. I quit by separating nicotine from the habit of smoking. Patches and fake cigarettes. It worked for me to realise I didn’t like smoking, nicotine makes your brain like what you doing when it hits your system. Thinking about slapping a patch on when I do my first 20 minutes! 🤣🤪🤣. But you have quit already. You have done the hard thing. Now you just got to keep on truckin.
