My 100th run in 2018

Hi all,

My Alzheimer’s Challenge to Run the Year, is going apace and as of today, I’ve completed 100 runs, covering 938.40 kms.

Today’s run a cheeky little 10ker, all the gory details can be found below.

jancanrun.com/2018/05/31/31...

I’m at 45% of my fund raising target, and 46% of my kilometre target, with only 42% of the year gone. They are only small percentage gains, but I’m about 85kms ahead of where I need to be.

Thanks to all the messages and support from you guys on here, in particular Razouski , ju-ju- , Polly2810 and MrsT82 who've been spurring me on these past weeks.

In the spirit of giving back - I’ve started a new playlist. The Dad Dancing Classics, you know the type of song that gets requested at a family/friends celebration, and inwardly you groan when your dad/male rellie/significant other, requests that cringeworthy song and then dances or pretends to be the lead singer - which is even worse. To celebrate dad dancers through the ages - my play list has started, with these babies:-

Tigerfeet - Mud

It’s Not Unusual - Tom Jones

Rasputin - Boney M

YMCA - Village People

The Can Can - Bad Manners

New York, New York - Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett

Dizzy - Vic Reeves

You Can’t Hurry Love - Phil Collins

Come On Eileen - Dexy’s Midnight Runners

Ballroom Blitz - The Sweet

Sit Down - James

Brown Sugar - The Rolling Stones

Money For Nothing - Dire Straits

This Town Ain’t Big Enough For The Both Of Us - Sparks

School’s Out - Alice Cooper

Eye Of the Tiger - Survivor

Jump Around - House of Pain

You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet - BTO

Any other ‘dad dancing’ classics gratefully received and I’ll compile the list on Spotify and let you have the link early in June

Or you play a great game 🌟🏃‍♀️, I only talk a good game.😂

I am just loving this running malarkey.🌟👏👏

💫🏃‍♀️💫Should have said run the run.🙈😂😂

You are doing fabulously well Jan. Amazing how far you have come this year. I know you were a runner previously but it's only 11 months since you started C25K! Staggering :)

Hi thanks for the encouragement. 11 months since the re-start - amazing how time flies. I’m torn between wishing the time away so the challenge is done and wanting it to go on for a long time!

I've already beaten my total kilometres for all of 2017, which was something in itself. Still it's good to have targets hey....

Fantastic news on the Al Challenge (when my mum was difficult with Alzheimer’s our way of making sure we didn’t get frustrated with her or take it personally was to say that it was Big Al. DislikedBig Al but still loved mum to bits 🙂). You’re doing incredibly well.

Dad dancing tunes -

Birdie Song (but wouldn’t want it on a playlist)

Ooops Upside Your Head

One Step Beyond - Madness

Will try to think of some others.

in reply to Razouski

In Bologna with friends so offline. Birdie song I agree it just can’t go on though... Oops upside is a winner and one step beyond... its a tough one actually because there seems to be just an accepted set of songs

Agreed on Al that’s a great way of looking at it. See you soon

hmmmm dad rock? Whitesnake - Here I Go Again, ELO - All Over the World, Dire Straits - Walk of Life

Dads trying to be John Travolta - Grease or Stayin' Alive

Disco dads - KC and the Sunshine Band - That's The Way (uh huh uh huh) I Like It

Elvis impersonator dads - The Wonder of You or Suspicious Minds (not v dancey though ...)

in reply to icklegui

They’re in I’d got Dire Straits funnily enough one my pop’s fave tunes for dad dancing. But Whitesnake that is inspired thinking....📀📀📀

aah yes Money for Nothing - best song to mention kitchen appliances!

I see you're doing incredibly with the challenge - I read your blog on the regular and it's fab. You are so, so determined! And still funny and entertaining even when it's been tough.

Wow Hidden ...this is amazing, such a fantastic acheivement for such a worthy cause....

I love this playlist, made me smile, if my Dad were still here he’d definitely be dancing to this lot!!! Thank you for all the playlists you produce...some of them have me in stitches, some have me stupidly grinning, some have me running with a little wiggle here & there as I try to stop myself breaking out in to a full on dance routine (!) and some take me right back to my childhood...some good times, some not so good...but it just shows the power of music xxx
