I commented on a post on here recently about my motivation for running ππ½ββοΈ and wanted to write something as a βmemoβ for me. It might feel familiar to some of you or might light a spark...
I run to get away from everything else!
When I started the couch to 5k plan, on 20th July, my husband had left me a few weeks before π Weβd had summers full of achievements (mountain climbing mainly) and I wanted to create my own goal. Iβd seen this app and my thoughts around running stemmed from awful school cross country runs.
I was lost and unfit so gave this a go!
Iβve learnt so much about myself π Mainly the hard way-Iβll never eat a bacon and egg sandwich before a run again π
When I run, I canβt reply to anything other than my body or my 8 year old daughter on her bike/running buddy. I love it so much! Iβm free β€οΈ
I run close to beaches and feel so lucky every time Iβm out. Iβve seen the most amazing sunsets and shared most of them with my daughter π
Our bond has become closer than ever, weβve learnt our new way of life together and I will always be thankful to couch to 5k for that ππ»
Iβm on W8R3 tomorrow. I know Iβll always be learning and achieving now I have running. Iβve yet to experience running in the rain π§π
And to all of you on here-running really does give us the gift of life. Use it well ππ»π₯°
You should be very proud of your achievements. It must be great having your daughter cycle next to you on your runs. It shows that you can do anything if you put the effort in . Well done you ππ
I like the challenge of running and the fact that it takes me away from everything a few times a week. I used to be into body building and I'm a qualified fitness instructor, but I got arthritis and it put a stop to it all. So I decided to try running again after a 30 year break from it and guess what, no arthritic pain at all.. Happy days π I'm glad I tried it again because now I gave focus and a challenge which I have always aspired to.
I haven't tried a bacon and egg sandwich before a run and going by your experience I won't be trying it either π
As for running in rain, I remember running in it and snow 30 years ago and I remember that I enjoyed it, it was another kind of challenge but a good one.
Anyway,
I enjoyed reading your post it was very nice.
Enjoy your day.

Yes, it's great and amazing how it has such a big impact on life too.
WOW what an inspirational post! I love the fact that you have found running to help you through this very difficult time in your life, and to create that even closer bond with your daughter. Well done you!! Onwards and upwards for you now π€
Well firstly congratulations on getting this far whilst going through what must of been a great deal of hurt!
. Secondly I bet your ex husband thinks your sat inside crying over him - when your actually out achieving greater things & making precious memories with your little girl ππ #GoGirls π
. Thirdly you are in control of your life now & only you can take yourself forwards, so keep pushing those life limits & keep running ππ½ββοΈ #FreedomIsRunning #RunningLife #RunningMemories
Itβs been a tough time then, running and following the plan takes up a lot of mind space for a while and gives the rest time to. rest
Itβs been an amazing journey for you and well done for not wallowing on the couch with a bottle of wine drowning your sorrows, to get out and run takes courage and determination which makes you awesome, sharing with your daughter is building such a bond also, I really admire you
Thank you ππ» I will admit-a bottle of wine on the couch was my first coping strategy. Since starting the plan though, Iβve not drunk any alcohol! Even on my birthday-I wanted to run and knew that alcohol would affect it (I canβt imagine running with a groggy head!).
They really are, as an old girl i have lost so much, blood pressure down cholesterol down and 3 inches off my waist..... π so running gives so much back
