My Dad's first Parkrun - 31:03

My Dad's first Parkrun - 31:03

Hi all!

I Dad graduated C25K this week so I encouraged him to join me for today's Parkrun. I have a 10km race tomorrow so I told him we could run together and I would try and push him a bit to run a faster time.

As with most people who run with others the first time we set out and ran a fast first km, 5:36, and then slowed down gradually. We walked for 100m in the 5th km because the start was a bit too fast. However we finished in 31:03 which is a minute faster than the first 5km that my Dad ran.

I have three more weeks until my half marathon and I run all my long runs on Sunday. So the next three Parkruns will be slower ones for me, hopefully I can bring my Dad along and enjoy a few runs with him!

  • Congratulations to the Sarwars! That is two fit looking geezers. I might have a go at my mum, but then again, she is 90.

    Enjoy your running.

  • Thanks Ian! I'd go easy on your Mum though...

  • Wow what a great picture - and your dad must be chuffed with his time- well done on your efforts to get him there.

good luck with your 10k tomorrow:-)

  • Thanks Suzy!

  • Well done Aftab's Dad.

  • Congratulations to both you and your dad, and good luck for tomorrow. You'd better watch out, your dad maybe nipping at your heels in a race in the near future with his great times :)

  • Thanks! He'd never let me forget beating me in a run so I'd better have to make sure it doesn't happen!

  • Smashing picture and brilliant time guys, well done.

  • Well done Aftabs Dad! And congrats to you too Aftabs for persuading him to run!! Good luck to you for your 10K run on Sunday-today! It is my 10K too today and still thinking whether to go or not to go as I have a little ache in my knee..
