A not so pleasant run, for some.

Today was W9R2 - so close to graduation I can almost taste ! ๐Ÿ˜

It started and ended well and I enjoyed it, more than what other people did! ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

I was about 18 minutes in, when I slowed down as I was coming up to a gate, I passed a Middle Aged guy out walking his dog, who came out with the comment: I never expect to see people โ€˜like youโ€™ out running! ๐Ÿ˜ณ I asked him what he meant and he just looked me up and down and gave a half smile. At which point I, not so politely, told him to remove this head from up his back side, open his eyes and stop being arrogant and yes even โ€˜fatโ€™ people can run! ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ˜ก I think he was more embarrassed than me by that point, I went on my way slamming the gate shut behind me! - Yes I am over weight, and have about 3 stone to lose, but what he didnโ€™t know is that I have already lost 4 and a half stone, so Iโ€™m well on my way!

5 mins later and I was running towards a group of lads (about 10 years old) playing at the side of trail where I was running. At which point 2 of the lads see me, they ran ahead slightly and drew a finish line in the dirt. All 4 cheered as I crossed the line, even though I still had a few minutes left.

I didnโ€™t know either the guy with the dog or young lads. Some people say the youth of today have no respect but these young lads could have taught the older a guy a thing or two!!!

Donโ€™t let small minded people put a dampener on something you enjoy, regardless of where you are in your journey - Do it for you!

Anyway, another run complete, next is graduation!

Happy running all! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Well done Lisalou on both the run and putting such an a..hole in his place. Sad to think he might even be a parent ๐Ÿ˜ค. The podium is so close, chilling the bubbles for you ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿธ. :)

You have done awesome, this type of person unfortunately is unhappy with themselve and probably jealous of you out there doing something truly inspirational. I myself am at the exact run as you and by the end of the week we will have achieved something fantastic along with many others. We are out there doing something while others don't give a shit about anyone, just remember that more people are proud of your efforts than not, keep going your awesome and congrats for this week. Take care.

Thank you. Iโ€™m proud of where I am and how far Iโ€™ve come, if people donโ€™t like it then thatโ€™s really not my problem! Lol.

Congratulations on your up coming graduation ๐ŸŽ“ xx

Well done to you and well done for sticking up for yourselves.

People have no idea what other people's journey are but yet they're quick to pass judgement.

I'm overweight myself and it wasn't easy making a start to do this. So when I see others who may be bigger than myself or slower than myself (if that's even possible) I like to give them a big encouraging smile. A smile that speaks words without me actually speaking.

Keep up the good work, keep your head up and well done to you.

And a big congratulations on your weight loss too. That's absolutely brilliant. You're doing so well.x

Thank you. I donโ€™t think itโ€™s ever easy making a start. But the hardest steps is often the most rewarding! Good luck xx

you are nearly there, I too am an overweight runner and I once thought people like me didn't run, friends laughed at me when I started but I am proud to say I actually can run!

Well done Lisalou in doing so well and losing so much weight already. You will be a new woman! The action by the young lads must have put a smile on your face after your first encounter. Youโ€™ve just reminded me that on my 2nd week I was huffing and puffing my way around when a little lad of about 4 or 5 started clapping and said โ€˜come on you can do itโ€™. I could have hugged him. I suspect heโ€™s used to watching park run.

So impressed with you for (1) putting that man in his place, and (2) completing wk 9 run 2! Youโ€™re so close!

In my experience, people who think fat people shouldnโ€™t exercise are nearly always the most judgemental about people being fat in the first place, which is ridiculous. ๐Ÿ™„ Thank goodness for the kids coming along to remind you that most people arenโ€™t idiots!

I would never comment on someone that was overweight doing any kind of activity!! To me that is someone who is trying to improve themselves and make themselves healthier. What a horrible thing to have been up against! Well done for saying something though, not a lot of people would have done, they would have wanted the ground to open up and swallow them. Some people might not realise the impact their words have on others so hopefully he'll think twice about commenting on someone's weight in the future.

Also massive congratulations on the 4.5 stones weight loss - great achievement.

Good luck for your last run ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

Hey Lisalou1402,

Unfortunately we live in a world where we have to come across such โ€”-holes, but you know what, the same world have got a community like this one.

You have got a lot of people who are smiling reading your post because you have made such an amazing progress.

Keep it up and you have done amazingly well with the response to that xxxhole and even more amazingly well on this journey, just one run to graduation!

Thank you all for you comments! ๐Ÿ˜Š If he had made the comment at the start of my journey Iโ€™m not sure my reply would have been the same, but Iโ€™m proud of how far Iโ€™ve come and small minded people like that would change how I feel. The young lads certainly put a smile on my face and made it all feel worth while.

Good luck to everyone in all future runs and remember to keep smiling and feel proud for making that first move as itโ€™s often the hardest! ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ xx

Well done, great reply to the arsey dog walker, and great to have such motivating kids around. You're nearly there for graduating I hope to do W9R3 tomorrow and make it to the podium but I go out early and rarely see anyone in this sleepy backwater. I love your attitude and your effort go girl

Good for you for putting that absolute moron in his place. I hope he thinks twice before he judges anyone again. Those boys sound very sweet though, nice way to finish a run.

Iโ€™m at the exact same stage as you, on to graduation run on Friday, I too am still overweight but I have lost a fair amount on my way and Iโ€™m not stopping anytime soon. We are smashing it girl ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘
