So after a whopping 2 rest days I went out tonight again after work. I decided to do the stamina podcast again, which I felt was quite hard work, though I completed it fine, but at a slightly slower pace than before (averaged 6:39 per km). I was wondering why I found this run quite difficult, and I think it's a combination of being at work from 8am to 6pm, driving an hour back, having some food (I was starving!!) and then going out probably only about 45 minutes after eating. I think that was too soon, I shall take note for next time. Normally I eat after running, but I was starving...
Picking up on what lovely folks like helenwheels have said to me, and a few more of you (you know who you are!) maybe I need to start thinking about longer distances. I think I might show my face over in the 10k forum and get some advice / bullying I'm not sure I feel like doing 10k though... but it would be a better distance, as it opens up many more circular runs, as the out and back canal route, lovely though it is (see pic!), is getting a little too familiar now. Just a thought.
Stamina and Strength are blissful, and that running location looks blissful too!
Wow!'
Yes, head across to Bridge, you will know so many of us...I am afraid I am there too !
I love 10K, as does misswobble ... it was fun getting there... ju-ju- 's programme is terrific and for me now, 10K is my favourite distance... although I am moving on no in my HM plan!
You are doing wonderfully...I shall watch out for you on Bridge
I have to say it’s a nice place to run in the summer. The path is a little uneven, but it feels like my legs are stronger now and can cope better with the terrain. 10K... still nervous!! I think I’m going to try a longer run this weekend, to the end of the canal I think, which only makes it a run of about 6k for me... I’ll see how I handle that!!
Brilliant Neil...I find the stamina podcast impossible...but I think that’s because I expect not to be able to complete it....& when I don’t complete something, I almost trip over my lip on my slope home so I will do the speed podcast often but never the stamina one...I so want to build up to 10k too but I am expecting myself not to be able to do it yet so I’m not trying it yet...if you do decide, I shall keep my beady eye on you & take note of how you get up there...you’ve no need to worry about having a go Neil coz I am SURE you will be amazing.....gorgeous pic by the way 😉
I have been trying to pluck up the courage to start the 10k programme for a couple of months now! And just when I thought I was ready (I was managing 6k runs), I strained my calf. It still niggles a bit now, so not completely healed. Am aiming for Ju-Ju's next 10k programme…as is MummyCav! (Aren't you, MC?!)
I ran this morning, just a 5k, but for the first time in ages it was HORRIBLE. No idea why either...mojo gone missing temporarily I suspect. Again, for the first time ever. Eeeks.
That is a gorgeous route to run, Neil. I have three routes I can take now, but by far my favourite is one that takes me through woodland and then open fields. Love me a bit of nature.
Let's hope the next run is a nice one for both of us!

I am sure you will enjoy it Neil. Moving on is scary but also invigorating. Why wouldn't you?
