Tomorrow I will be running W8R3... I’m getting there, step by step....
Quick question though, what do you eat or not eat before a run? Have you found that certain foods have an effect on your running? What about after a run? Okay, maybe more than one question. Lol.
Thanks guys!
Happy running!

Hi Lisa. I feel like I run better when I have eaten so I like to have some peanut butter on toast and or a banana or sometimes a homemade flapjack or something and a cup of coffee an hour before I go out. I do sometimes run on a fast day and although I’m not slower it feels harder.
For me early morning is done on nothing or a mug of tea (8k this morning). Afternoon/early evenings are done on lunchtime food. For c25k there is no need for special or extra food, just make sure you are hydrated ALL the time - not just before a run - and give any food you do have time to be digested before you set out. During hot weather you might need a bit of salt adding to your diet if you are sweating more.
I eat a banana about an hour before a run - mainly run in the mornings. But also ran without anything but a coffee! I’ve run once in the evening after dinner but had left it 2 hours.
I’ve tried both and have found I run better for not eating. I run in the morning after a coffee and water. Im sure I can feel any food I have eaten bouncing about when I run. I have plenty of water afterwards though.
