Welcome to the final weekly question of the summer run! I have to say, I’ve really enjoyed all your answers. There have been some great tips and wonderful solidarity in the things we find easy and hard. Mostly, it’s fun to be nosey about what other people think about their running and what they get up to!

I thought for this week’s question, I’d throw it open to you. What would you ask for your question of the week? We’re going to carry on with these posts on a monthly basis so you may even see yours featured on a future post.

For some inspiration, here are the questions we’ve had so far…

❓Why do you run?

❓Which week of Couch to 5k are you on?

❓What would you miss most about running if you had to stop?

❓ Are you an all weather runner or a fair weather runner ?

❓What keeps you motivated when you’re not quite feeling it?

❓ Have you ever experienced Runner Imposter Syndrome ?

❓Do you run indoor or outdoors?

❓Where do you keep yours [kit]?

❓Where in the world have you run?

So it’s over to you all…what do you want to know?!

My contribution? What’s your favourite way to finish a run? My answer is always coffee!!

I love these questions, what I miss now I can't run is the feeling of freedom. My favourite way to finish a run is a glass of water and cup of tea. Thank you for keeping these questions going

I wish I could run pre-breakfast! I usually have something light and a treat breakfast when I get home! I could talk about breakfast all day…maybe we need to ask about the best post-run breakfasts for one of these questions!!

A good cup of tea is the equivalent of a hug in a cup! I hope you’re getting lots of good cuppas and sending many hugs and good wishes your way ❤️‍🩹

I will answer those questions MissUnderstanding

1- to keep fit and healthy

2- completed the course in 2018

3- would miss my Saturday morning parkrun and midweek Wednesday run

4- mainly Fairweather runner but if it started to rain during a run I would complete it

5- I would not run if I was unwell, otherwise I would go a run.

6- outdoors

7- in a separate drawer at home

8- only local runs in Scotland

Oh go on Al...What's your question ???

It could be....and mine also...Do you think you'll still be running when you're as old as me??

😀

AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate in reply toOldfloss

I am now 78 Floss, a little older than you, my question could be "could you or I still be running when we are in our 80's?", there are a few octogenarians running at parkruns, one of them I notice runs sub 25 minutes regularly, the others vary from 35 to 45 minutes, the man who runs sub 25 minutes regularly has an age grading in the upper 80's.I am sure MissUnderstanding will still be running in her 70's.

She will indeed. Good question on the 80s Al...you'll have to tell me how it feels when you get there!

Favourite way to finish a run? Without injury 😂

...but less pessimistically, my ideal run would finish with me feeling energised, on a day that's warm and sunny enough that I can do my cooldown exercises on the lawn (on the newly turfed bit that's green and luxuriant rather than the rest of it which isn't) then a lovely breakfast of eggs, avocado toast and bacon/slices of French sausage or a mock McMuffin with egg, sausage patty from the butcher and cheapie cheese slices on a muffin (we're a long way from a McDs here)

A question to ask: At what point do you change from your summer running kit to your winter running kit?

Great answer and great question too!!! Totally agree-when you’ve had injuries, finishing feeling fit and healthy is just the best thing.

This time of year is the perfect time to ask about changing kit. I always get it wrong and end up going long sleeved too early, then sweating buckets. I could do with some tips!!

I am going right out on a side route here...my question...

At what stage of your running, did you finally realise that what you are doing, makes you someone really special ?

MissUnderstanding profile image
MissUnderstandingAdministratorOn a breakGraduate in reply toOldfloss

That’s such a great question!

I’ll answer it right now…if was actually when I realised running had become a totally ordinary part of life, and going out in the pouring rain was just a normal thing. It struck me that that was a pretty special state of mind! We definitely need this as a question!

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply toMissUnderstanding

Me too... Very similar... out there, vile weather, togged up like Burglar Bill or Burglar Betty, soaked to the skin and enjoying it!!!

We really are awesome!!!! Go us...every single one of us!

Special... You bet!

I'm really enjoying my journey into running and how the times have changed in time. I'll only think I'm doing something special if I cross the Manchester marathon finishing line and raise the money for the British Heart ❤️ Foundation

OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply toTessie66

And what's your question going to be? X

Tessie66 profile image
Tessie66 in reply toOldfloss

My question is nerves I get really nervous and need the toilet a lot before hand how can you deal with this because I really have no need to be nervous

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply toTessie66

Oh right! I just spotted that I'm your reply to MissU!Hmm...not sure on this...I still get lovely excited butterflies before a run...but not toilet runs...I just have one last p....before leaving the house..!

Race days are a bit more exciting and I often visit twice then!

I'll be interested in replies!

Does anyone else get imposter syndrome?

smokeysmoke profile image

I like to sit on my bed and finish my water. Then after about 10 mins of recovering I get into the shower

1 makes me happy and I'm a lot fitter 2 c25k finished last year highly recommend it

3 I'd miss parkrun getting up and getting out and I'd become a slob

4 I run all year in all weather

5 health and Manchester marathon next year

6 imposter syndrome self doubt I believe this definitely when I started running and I felt this way a my first few parkruns hopefully for my first marathon I don't feel so bad!!!

7 I run both but mainly outdoors

8 straight in the wash then in the wardrobe

9 🇬🇧 UK mainly West Yorkshire but run north east and a London parkrun

10 a 🥓 or sausage buttie

My question I get quite nervous before runs god only knows why so it's a lot of toilet trips how do you deal with this medication etc?

Thank you for this Miss Understanding
