Give me a clue......

So since I’ve been running my body has been changing shape - in a good way I think! I’ve not lost weight but I’m happier with what I’ve got, if you know what I mean 😂 I have a question though, after my run I don’t really know what to eat. I read something a couple of days ago on this forum I’m sure, that someone eats protein?

Is that right? If so, what? And why? Discussion?

You don’t need to eat unless its your meal time or you’ve run a long way, and have run over an hour or more. You don’t need need any extra grub for C25k. Sorry 😃

Yes, I realise that. Probably not made myself clear - one of the (many) reasons for me taking this challenge was to lose a bit of weight so I’m interested in what ‘real’ runners eat - although I am a real runner now apparently 😳

Of course you are

Peanut butter

Avocado

Scrambled eggs

Veg omelette

Nuts

Square of good dark choc

banana of course 😋

Cheese. but not much

I run on porridge Then for a post run lunch I often have an omelette - Spanish type with lots of veggies. Good for left over bits and bobs such as ham, chorizo,or,bacon, beetroot, cooked potato, mushrooms, courgettes, tomatoes, cheese Or,beans on wholemeal toast. Avocado, and tomatoes on toast or scr eggs on toast, or gorgeous tinned fish Cottage cheese whizzed into a sugar free jelly and tinned fruit, left to set in the fridge. It’s a dessert but not sweet.

Thanks misswobble although I shouldn’t think you do much - wobbling I mean. Looks like you eat pretty healthily and I’m pleased to say I eat pretty much all of these things except the cottage cheese concoction- I don’t eat that - and probably never will 😂 I think I’m going in the right direction- thankfully 😅

I don’t like cottage cheese but it’s good. Think cheesecake if it helps. The dessert is like cheesecake cake filling only lighter It’s really good ! The kids scoff it down

I experience less need for food after exercise. Maybe because I fill up with water.

Hi! Usually I run early morning 6:30ish. Have a banana and nuts before I go out. I have found it stops me feeling weak the rest of the day. Once the kids have left for school- usually about 8am, I have a nice breakfast of eggs, baked beans and toast. Keeps me full until afternoon. I also haven’t lost weight but feel a lot more toned. All the best!!

Nuts! Hadn’t thought of those! I have the banana- I’ll try the nuts too - thanks. I eat eggs on toast too. Can’t be doing it all wrong then!

Nutrition/Diet is a whole new ball game. Loads of info the interweb maybe to much sometimes about what is and isn't good etc etc

misswobble list is a good basis but depends on what you like or don't ..

I eat much better than I ever have now 😀 probably have lost weight but very gradually ..

Do what makes you happy is the best advise I can give

I run on a relatively empty stomach and so I hit the “within two hours” thing with one of my meals... and I make sure it has a protein source in there. I’m no longer looking for weight loss so I will eat the calories that I’m going to use running when I get on to real runs... for now I’m just getting towards them.

So you would b an omelette person for protein. That's the thing I'm trying to find out what protein, how much protein and how is it prepared/cooked? Trying to get out of the boredom zone.

I would use eggs and cheese, yes, as I’m vegetarian... I cook my daughter meats as she isn’t. Turkey is super low fat and obviously protein, so is her favoured one as she is losing weight, and lowering fat is working for her, it doesn’t for everyone. But basically at the moment we’re just eating as we normally do... protein, veg, filler.

Chicken! I love chicken but I go through spates if forgetting all about it!

I eat all kinds of fish, more fish than meat for me 😋. Beans are good protein sources too and lentils,,and so many dishes can be made therefrom 😋

I make trays of roast veggies with a protein, eg,chicken, fish, sossies, or something cheesey, halloumi is good
