Hi, I've just completed my first run (just) and the hardest bit wasn't being out of breath it was the pain in my calves. I assume that it's because I am massively overweight and it's alot for my poor legs to handle!
Is it best to just run through the pain( which I did) and then do a few stretches afterwards?
Thanks 😊

Make sure you warm up first too. There's a link somewhere in these posts to the different types of stretches etc. You want to do 'dynamic stretches' before your run.
Also make sure you are well hydrated. Drink water regularly through the previous day and a glass before you run too. This should hell with the calves too
It may not be to do with your weight either. I’m not over weight, although I am old, 57, and I get calf pain. I just run through it and it seems to ease off. Have you seen the dr before starting? Or just keep going but really really slowly? Good luck Hun 👍
I’m on w1 3rd run tonight, I’m 18st and my calves and shins were on fire but I rested for 2 days then 2nd run felt same as first BUT the 60seconds didn’t seem half as long so I guess your muscles just build up to withstand it....... I’m hoping myself the burning will ease off each run but what doesn’t kill you I guess 😂 well done for getting through it 👍
