W6R2- Incomplete and so disappointed

I am so disappointed in myself. Did first 10 minute run today and really struggled with it, started the second one and completely failed it and didn't finish it.

I actually cried on the way home because I was so disappointed in myself. Never since starting the programme have I not finished a run.

It's hot, sunny and I am still suffering with a sore throat so that all probably had an affect on me.

Will need to repeat this run in Wednesday as at the moment there is no way I will manage a full 25 minute run.

Can't believe how much this programme means to me now, good job I had sun glasses on to hide the tears 😢

Just forget about it and move on. No matter what level you're on there will be hard runs. Why? No idea, lots of factors.

I completed half marathon very easily and without any niggles but only a week prior l laboured during a 13K practice run. I was rested, fuelled and hydrated, the route was familiar and yet, l struggled. Why? Haven't a clue.

Go out there again and do it, don't stress over minor glitches.

Oh what a shame - I'm just coming on here to say that I loved this particular run this morning - but there are always going to be ups and downs for each of us along the way, aren't there? And it seems you can never tell before a run what it's going to be like.

Don't let it get you down - remember that a 10-minute run is in fact the second longest we have ever done, and if you - or your mind/body - is simply not in the right mood for a run, it's not going to go well.

Dust yourself down, have a relaxing rest day (our muscles are gradually strengthening every day on this programme), and go again on Wednesday.

Don’t be too hard on yourself. This place is littered with tales of being caught out by w6. Take a rest day (or two) and give it another go. Heat and sore throat do not make a great w6 combo. Good luck!

It's a Monday thing! A few people (including me) have had a less than personally stellar day. It's no biggie really (tho I share your pain!!). We all get an off day. Life happens. Bust just think how far you've come so far. You're a winner. And have lapped everyone who's still on the couch.

Take a day of R&R. You can do this. And you will.

Show 'em!!

Thank you everyone for your replies and encouragement, I will get out there again on Wednesday and hope for a cooler day and hopefully a better run.....

Awww sorry you’ve gotten so upset over this. It’s just a glitch - I’m sure next run you will be back in your groove 🏃🏻‍♀️

Week six is tricky, probably the most difficult of the lot. It feels like a step backwards after the high of the 20 minute run and it's really easy to get your pacing wrong. Chalk this one up to experience and take it slow and steady on Wednesday. Be kind to yourself.

Sounds like you had a gremlin attack! So sorry to hear they got the better of you and reduced you to tears. They are nasty things, but you can beat them next time.

Do a search on here for gremlins and you’ll find many of us have suffered from their mischief but we’ll run with you virtually and help you kick them out of the way.

Happy running on Wednesday. You can do it. 😀

Hi Lou,

So sorry to hear about how you felt. I would probably be a major self critic as well.

I'm not going to try to tell you how to think, as everyone deals with things in their own way.

All I will point out is that you have had 16 successful sessions before today's glitch. 16 victories. 16 times you overcame your doubts and managed it.

I look forward to reading your next success report.

I’ll tell you. When I first did C25K week 6 run 2 was a nightmare. I think a lot is physiological. You think that because it’s less running it will be simple. However because you have the mini walks in between you are taking your heart from recovery into workout mode 3 times and that can take it out of you. Give it another go and keep going. You got this

You're on week6 which is amazing. Just think how far you've come, how many minutes you've run since week1... no doubt you didn't think it possible when you started, but you've done it anyway.

Everyone is allowed an off day.

Kick some dirt over it and move on.

Not what you're looking for?
