W6R3. 25 minutes.
I was late in getting back from taking Mrs GB to work this morning so by the time I got home at 0930 it was already 22C in the shade and 27C in the sunshine. But as I have my mantra set as Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday then it meant on with the minion gear and off to the woods.
Thinking I would outwit Mother Nature and hide my marble toned skin from the suns rays I thought it best to do the run through the forest entirely rather than just the first or second half of the run. (By the way, when I say marble toned skin I refer to the colour as opposed to the sculpted firmness).
So off I set trying to keep the nice steady pace and push on to the end of W6. We are due some storms towards the end of the week and so the humidity is currently around 72% which means sweating is non optional. But as we are early summer all of the spiders in the woods have strands of web hanging down from all of the trees to catch all of the hatching flying bugs and insects. Unless the sunlight catches it then the first you are aware of such web is when you get a face full. By the mid way point I emerged from the forest to the pylon looking like some some of ghostly wisp of the forest. Puffing and sweating and red faced with a face full of web and strands blowing behind me.
For the return journey I thought I would take the path along the forest but ouch that sun was hot.
Garmin shows me as well under performance and I do wonder at times on the bpm readings of these wearable smart watches. Was I really at 183bpm for 20 minutes? I think I would have been feeling dizzy were that the case.
Anyway, that's Week 6 of C25K version 2 out of the way.
Starting week 7 with a bit of tourist running which should be nice. And a few less spiders as well!
Enjoy the journey.
