Woke up early , set out all nice and happy to do my run/ walk which ended up being an obstacle course: I had to dodge slugs, vault over snails, duck under green caterpillars hanging in hordes from shimmering threads at eye level to knee ... sticking like Velcro to my jacket.. next came the shrill shrieks ( from me not the caterpillars!! As I jumped out of my skin coming face to face with HUGE ( I think!!) spiders having brekkie in the breeze feasting on these green morsels..) whew glad I finished that.. I did just flick a hitchhiker off my jacket just now!!!!

That sounds like a very pleasant run!!!, this morning I am on my last run of week 4, I am taking the train down to Balloch at Loch Lomond, Scotland, about 30 miles from where I live and be doing the walk/run along a path parallel to the loch.

That sounds amazing .. I had coffee at a cafe by the Loch and the views where amazing.. I can imagine a run there would be breathtaking ..

Hi, 'Dolphin73', just come back from Loch Lomond, my final run/walk of week 4 round 3 was OK, the path parallel to Loch Lomond is full of holes, ankle breaking, so I did my runs going uphill on a smoother surface, then on the flat just a little inland from the loch. The second run, that's the 5 minute one was 90% uphill, yes, it was a bit tiring but near the end, there was a roundabout so I came back the way I went, the last 90 seconds was downhill.

So that's week 4 completed, I can now look "forward" to Wednesday and the start of week 5, o yes that dreaded 3rd 20-minute run which I intend to do around Linlithgow Loch next Monday. Linlithgow is the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots, born 8th December 1542 in Linlithgow Palace, during my run I hope she will be willing me on to complete the run in 20 minutes.

Mary was a formidable force .. if she’s willing you on you’ll be flying.. good luck and enjoy. I’m doing gym with heavy weights and c25k outdoors.. tonight is gym legs session.. I’m so looking forward to it.. mealprepping for a vegetarian week right now..

Although I do not attend a gym, I do exercises at home, my daughter gave me a yoga mat recently so I do a bit of yoga as well, I can plank for about 4 to 6 minutes, I use 5kilo kettlebells as well for core strengthening. I have been a cyclist since I was 7 but not really into running at all, only in the last 6 weeks or so I have started that, thanks to C25K. I am 71, 72 on the same week as I do round 5 run 3, Monday for that, Thursday my birthday, my sister and daughter are taking me out for my birthday, so if I do the 20 minute run around the loch it could be a double celebration. Enjoy your gym legs session tonight.

Hi Dolphin, just completed round 5 run 3 around Linlithgow Loch, I got around the loch a bit quicker than I thought I would, the run was OK went a bit further than I thought I would, there is a hill 3/4 around the loch, I thought I would be about 1/4 mile short of that hill but actually got to the bottom of it just as I completed the run in 20m and 2 seconds. The first kilometre was paced at 08.29/km and the final 100 or so metres was paced according to my app at 07.47/km

Well done. Sounds more like an Indiana Jones movie than a run in the English countryside
