Same here. W8R1 tomorrow and even though last run was only Sunday it seems ages ago. Nothing like a sunny bank holiday to put you out of sync! Good luck for Thursday.
I did week 6 run 3 yesterday. It was terrible mainly due to the heat but also psychologically, Iโm just not sure how Iโm going to run without walking breaks (donโt say slow down please, I am super super slow!!!)
There is always super slower Try to find a cool part of the day, wear the right gear..( cap essential... take a small amount of water to rub over your wrists hands and neck ( even though it is not a long run...)
Early is good and if you are able to find a shady route too... you will do this... relax and let the new legs find their happy pace
Youโre very wise oldfloss! I went out this morning and completed week 7 run 1, it was much cooler so much more comfortable and I thought of you and kept the pace even slower than Monday and I didnโt need to stop! Yay!! ๐๐๐
As you know how I am getting on this is to let you know I managed 10.45 km at the weekend as part of my health and wellbeing process will be trying to get to 13Km if I can at the weekend
I did W8R2 this morning and it was hot and I was soooooo slow, like a snails really slow friend ๐๐ I have no idea how I carried on as I really wanted to stop but I couldnโt if that makes sense ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Well done! Keep going youโre nearly at the podium ๐๐
Hello everyone, Iโm a lurker whoโs just completed W5R1 I absolutely adore C25K and Lauraโs encouragement - I havenโt done any running for 30 years. I canโt believe how much Iโm enjoying each โrunโ (๐) and looking forward to the next one.
Just got back from my week 12 Run 1, tomato red face as usual, but well earned, beautiful autumn day here again,18 degrees. Just bought some fleecy lined leggings and fingerless gloves, theyโll have to wait, though not complaining. Still keeping up with my 3x30 mins. Have a brilliant week everyone๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Thanks OF . Question? Is there a place for graduates who donโt or physically canโt move to 10km, well just yet anyway, feel a bit in limbo land at present. Whatโs next? What do others do?
I would say...stay on C25K...post as you move forward.. I am on all three forums..C25K..Bridge and now, as I am on a HM plan..on the Marathon forum๐Folk will make you welcome and give great advice as you continue๐
Hello everyone, I started this programme a few years ago and after reaching the final week I stupidly sat on my laurels, stopped running and have ended up suddenly being 52 years old and heavier than I have ever been. I did week 1 last week and today I start week 2. Looking forward to it but feeling nervous.
I did my first trail run yesterday - phew, that was hard, my pace was sooo slow! A lot hillier than the road, still pretty muddy and lots of loose rock and tree roots made for some extra work for the joints - my ankles are a little sore this morning. It was nice to see some different scenery it definitely will be good for strengthening up muscles and other tissues around the joints!
Completed Run 3 of Week 3 yesterday, albeit very, very slowly as my daughter decided to tag along! This morning my ankles and knees are achey which Iโve not experienced before. I was looking forward to starting Week 4 tomorrow but I feel I may need an extra days rest?
Just really stretch...if you look at IannodaTruffe 's IannodaTruffe's FAQ how to run C25K..there is a link to stretching after a run exercise...they are brilliant๐
Just got back from W8R1. Last 8 minutes felt like an hour! Pace was nice and steady throughout, even if it was a little slower than Iโd have liked. Pleased to have completed 28 minutes though!
Iโm not doing well at the moment - I havenโt managed to motivate myself to go out during the hot weather at all. I was half intending to go for a run tonight but didnโt head out before Mr Raonbow got home and suggested getting a curry...
On the bright side, Iโve hit 10k steps again (Iโm at least doing quite well with that!) - and I really *will* go for a run tomorrow. Itโs going to be a long day at work so I think a run when I get in will be exactly what I need...
Ummm... Mr Rainbow had bought some nice cheeses so we went shopping for other bits, and when we got in I didnโt want to put off eating for another hour... oops ๐ณ
Hi, I did week 8, run 2 today and was relieved to find it the easiest run so far! I say relieved because I've found the longer, uninterrupted runs very challenging to get through, and they didn't seem to be getting any more manageable all thru week 7 and week 8, run 1. I was beginning to really doubt my body's ability to progress any further, seeing as it has largely been my mind getting me this far. I can't say today was *easy*, and I couldn't have run for any longer, but I had a really good feeling whilst running. For the first time I was hoping someone *would* recognise me so I could shout "I've just run 2 miles non-stop!!" x
Hi Oldfloss! I've been lurking for a little while soaking up all the advice, but feeling nervous about posting myself. Did W7R2 last night (even two flies flying into my left eye 5 minutes apart didn't stop me!) and hoping to do R3 over the weekend.
Hi Jenny Enjoy your run on Sunday! I haven't decided whether to run today or tomorrow. Looking at the forecast I'm thinking today might be the better bet...
Thanks Oldfloss. It really is a very positive and supportive environment, and reading all the advice has been most helpful. I started back in January and have had a few hiccups along the way- my left leg seems very happy with running, just wish my right leg felt the same!
Still lurking on C25K but not posting much. I love seeing everyone's posts about how the program is going. I'm quietly rooting for you all. I am really enjoying my 10k training. So glad I found running! The one sport I thought I could never do, and the one I now love the most! I've kept saying all this time that I'll stop at 10k but now I'm not so sure!! Happy running everyone.
Just finished w7r3 this morning found it a little easier than run2 I ran 2.5miles for 25mins so need to make up another 0.6miles in the next two weeks to hit 5k target.
I'm brand new to C25K! My 22 yo daughter started running in January, and completed the Broad Street 10 mile run in Philadelphia last weekend. We were all proud, although astounded, at her achievement. There hasn't been an athlete on either side of our family going back several generations. I am 56 yo chubby office worker with weight-induced health issues. Her achievement has inspired me to haul myself out of this comfy couch and improve my life. I am thrilled that I found your website and forum - I love reading all of the kind and supportive posts. So, here I am, ready to start w1r1 this week. Nervous and excited, but really looking forward to it!
Welcome to the clan! Warning, running becomes addicted. Found myself getting out of my cosy bed at 6.30 this morning to go for a run - mind you I'm shattered this evening! Enjoy lots ๐.
I am still on week 9 after a calf injury. Having slowly rebuilt myself and re-run through the program, I decided to try W9R2 yesterday. Well it did not happen. I could not get the breathing right (hay fever does not help), I just could not get into the run. I gave up at 18 minutes and finished walking for another 15 minutes. Today I was floored by a tummy bug. So pleased I listened to my body as it was probably warning me.
I have been lurking here for a while as I love how supportive and helpful this community is, but havenโt posted till now. Just finished Wk 6 R3 this morning (after a couple of extra rest days due to a minor injury) and feeling really pleased with myself!
Just completed R1 of Week 9. Feeling good although a muscle in my back feels a little tired. Fingers crossed it's just something minor so I can graduate on Saturday!!
Wow, when the half time bell rang today (W5R2) it was also half way to the end of the 9 week plan. It gave me such a boost to be closer to the 5K than the couch. Bring it on.
