Have just completed the first run of week 1. Didn't think I would manage but I did!! Glad to have found this forum. Have a feeling I may need it in the near future! π
1st Run: Have just completed the first run of... - Couch to 5K
1st Run
I found it tough too! But it will get easier. Good luck, lots of us on here are just starting out the same as you π
Did my first one today too. Was too hard but got through. Keep going
Iβm at the same place as you, started this week and just completed run 2. And by that I mean I made it home again, tough today. But one foot in front of the other! Best of luck.
Thanks. So hard to believe at this point that I am expected be able to run for 2 minutes next week! Will keep positive!
Iβm struggling with that concept too at the moment. I feel like I might not graduate from week one π
Well done on getting started. I was feeling the same as you 5 weeks ago but Iβve stuck with it and Iβm loving it. Keep going, you can do this
Hi and well done on starting the programme! Trust in it - it works! I'm 61 and I graduated a few weeks ago, and when I started I couldn't run at all. Take the advice of the experts:

Always take the rest days. And take it slow and steady. Good luck and keep posting! ππ
Thank you. I'm 55, overweight and have never run before so finding this support amazing π
I'm overweight as well, and I'm amazed that I can now run for 30 minutes! This forum is really great and has helped me get this far. Keep posting, whether it's about your successes or any problems - there will always be someone who can offer advice and support. Good luck with the running. ππ
Did this help you lose weight?
No, to be totally honest. I think you need to run a lot more than 30 mins 3x a week to lose weight just through the exercise. But I feel a lot fitter, a bit more trim and definitely more energised. I guess you would need to combine this programme with a calorie controlled diet to achieve weight loss.
Youβll get there, just follow the plan. Iβm 4 stone overweight and have never run before. When I started I honestly couldnβt run for the full 60 seconds. Today I ran for 8 minutes π youβll be surprised how fast your lungs improve as the runs go by.
I will do my W4 R1 on Saturday and so far W1 was definitely the hardest so far, letβs hope I still feel the same after W4 canβt imagine running for 5mins !!! This forum has been my saviour!! So many positive comments and there is ALWAYS someone that feels like you do which is so very helpful. Good luck and keep it up ππΌββοΈππΌββοΈππΌββοΈ
I felt the same but you will do it and the feeling when you do is amazing π
Totally deflated. W1R3 worst of the 3. One of the runs I could only manage about 30 seconds π
But you did 30seconds which is 30 seconds more than you were doing before you started this ... I really did find W1 the hardest but I also found I was still learning .. learning the best route the best clothes the best music the best time to go !! I have also slowed down to a pace I find comfortable, itβs not a race itβs all at your own speed. Please donβt be too disheartened- you can do this !! If I can at 3stone over weight 57 yr old who had NEVER EVER run anywhere then so can you. Dust yourself off and give W1 another go ππΌββοΈ You can do this .... sending you lots of support through my Wi-fi π
Thank you. I'm 55, overweight and have never ran before. I didn't think about repeating week 1. I get VERY out of breath but if I go any slower I'll stop!
I get seriously out of breath as I am 4 stone overweight and asthmatic! But I am now one week 3 .... Just stick at it, your body needs to adjust to this new excercise regime and I promise it gets easier - not necessarily in how you feel as runs get longer but in your stamina and endurance. You can do this x
You are all doing great. Any exercise is fab. My hubby started running just over 3 years ago, completing couch to 5k, it has changed his life! Nearly 4 stone lighter he has just run his first marathon, Manchester, at the age of 51yrs in 3hr 35min. He is the reason I have started running. πββοΈπββοΈπ
Well that was better than I thought! W2R1 First surprise was the run was 1.5 mins and not 2 as I thought. I fell short by a few seconds but still happy as I got well over the minute. I wish they gave you time checks. I'm sure if I knew I had only 3 seconds to go I could have made it. Also realised I was going too fast after All. I thought I couldn't go any slower but I slowed down and it definitely helped. Think I've got it! π
