Attempted this today but only managed to run for 12 mins then after a brief walk i did another 5 mins then walked rest of way. Feeling disappointed with myself - i managed to run for 25 mins on Fri which was hard but i managed it. Only thing different is i ran this morning rather than in the early evening. Wondering if i ran too fast at the start and tired myself out. Anyway i havnt counted it as a run so next time i'll still be doing W7R1 :(

Trying to stay positive. X

Oh don't feel disappointed - look at how far you have come and what you have achieved! You still ran for 17 minutes!

Week 7 seems to be the one to get a lot of us - i had a similar experience yesterday doing w7r3 - not had a problem throughout but yesterday i could not run!

Put it down as a practice and go out tomorrow with determination - you can do it! Start off slow and build up to a pace you can manage. I think maybe too much was in your head - like the time of day you were out and it not being part of your usual routine, it just affected you. Hopefully you can get out at your normal time for the next run and smash it!

Good luck

It's totally ok to have an off day, to take the programme a bit slower, to do a practice run here and there! :) Hope your next run is better!

We've all had a run like that. Take it as a practice and try again after your rest days. I took a lot longer to get to W9R3 and it has taken me a year to get to 5k but I got there. Do this at a pace that works for you, it's about getting fitter and healthier :-)

Every run is a good run, but sometimes just not as good as we plan. With every run you do you're getting stronger.

It's a great achievement to get to W7, you've already done 25mins so you will definitely do it again. Take it slow, slow, slow!

Keep up the good work!

Good luck and happy running!

p.s. Love the dogs!

New runners have not yet appreciated that everything in their lives has an impact on their potential running performance. This is why elite athletes lead such closeted and cosseted lives, controlling every aspect to the nth degree.

Hydration, nutrition, restedness, state of mind, time of month, time of life etc. all affect your running, so try to avoid those things that impact negatively, or at least lower your expectations.

Oh!! Well It was also my birthday yesterday and we went out for a big meal so that may have hindered me too!

May try tomorrow evening - next time after that, that i can run is Sat :(

It's amazing you are on W7- I think the programme is really tough by then. And hey, you have already done the W7 run once, so you know it's possible. Take your time and don't beat yourself up!
