Wk 5 run 3?help?

Just a quickie, I am on week 5 just looking through my new week runs, is it correct that the 2nd run is max 8 mins but the 3rd run jumps straight to 20min constant run? Why such a big gap? Considering I am struggling with the 5min run? Any tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks x

Relax.

Each W4 workout is longer than each of the W5 workouts. The intervals are juggled and miraculously you will do this.........if you stay slow.

Believe it or not, you are not the first to have doubts, but if you do a search for W5R3 you will find posts like yours and an equal number of delighted posts from the same runners.

The plan works. Trust it and believe in yourself.

This may help healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Practice grinning!

I used to try to trick myself by converting running times into track times of my favourite songs...for example...If a record ( showing my age🤦🏻‍♂️) is three and a half / four minutes long then 20 minutes is just 5 of my favourite songs. I’d organise the playlist accordingly and ignore the minutes and concentrate on the tunes instead. You’ll get there though, don’t worry about that, you’ll suprise and impress yourself I promise 👍🏻💪🏻🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️

Thank you, this seems a great tip as I actually find myself scrolling through tracks to find one that I know will motivate me for that run, but I will be making a new playlist for this week x

I just did week 5 run 3 yesterday and was totally apprehensive thinking exactly the same but it went really well and I could have run longer. You'll be fine. Good luck with the rest of ct5k

Thank you, did you feel like you wouldn't be able to do it before you did it? To be honest I was dreading the x3 5 mins runs today for wk5 run1 and I surprised myself, I actually smashed it, once I get my breathing right I feel so much fitter

Yeah I thought I'd struggle. At one point I Started struggling (coming up hill probably didn't help) and thought I must only be about 13 mins in, next thing Laura speaks and says you've 5 mins left so it gave me a little burst of speed. Did wk6wk1 today. They said it can be harder. I found it hard having to stop running for the walking bit. Not sure if I'm just weird or if that's the hard bit they were talking about 😂😂 you'll smash the 2 8 min ones. Once you get going and over the toxic 10 I find your body just takes you. Good luck.
