Week 1, Run 2 - Do you carry water on your run?

It was a warm one last night but I was so pleased to complete the run. A quick (and maybe a silly!) question.. do you take water with you? I did last night as it was so warm but I’m not sure it was the best thing to do... the sloshy feeling in my tummy as I ran was not so good (sorry for the detail!)... is it best to hydrate before and after? I enjoyed myself, it’s so liberating and a real treat to see the sunset. Happy weekend all!

I've never taken water with me as I've never felt the need to drink anything (I've now run up to 7k) while out. I think it's important to be we well hydrated generally though so drink water throughout the day regardless of whether or not I'm running and I usually do drink water as soon as I get in from a run. If I drank lots just before I think I'd feel uncomfortable.

Good luck with completing week 1.

I drink water a couple hours before I go (and extra the day before a run), and again when I get home. I've never brought any with me. But I haven't run in hot weather yet and my runs, with warm up walk and cool down are usually about an hour or less. I may have to rethink that for summer time though, or longer runs.

I run on a treadmill and have water to hand, not sure if I would manage otherwise especially as I get so hot :-)

Up to 5K, there really is no need for carrying water... hydration every day is part of a healthy regime and should not be neglected:) I always have a sip of water before I leave the house too...

Realfoodieclub will be posting her 'pee' post soon, which highlights the need for good hydration in really hot weather:)

After 5K, and upwards, it may be sensible to take water with you.. sip if need be... and poured over the wrist and the back of the neck can be helpful too..I take my water with me if I am heading for a 10K...

I know I don't drink enough, I do consciously try to drink more the day before as I run early, and I don't drink before I go.

Then I have to make the effort to drink plenty when I get in.

It's on my list of must do more...😐

Oldfloss, what are the best type of water bottles to carry? Any recommendations?

Zikee Hydration Belt Running with water bottles(2 BPA free bottles) Many of us have this belt with the two small bottles... I usually carry one.. took one this morning on my 10K..it was enough for some sips and to rub water over my neck and wrists after the run:)

Amazon sell them but have sold out at the moment...e bay have some..

You shouldn't need water on c25k if you've kept hydrated beforehand, but as it's very warm take some with you to wet the mouth..

I carry a half full bottle with me. It’s basically a psychological crutch!

Hi Jo,

I just drink lots for about 2 hours before going out. I've not yet needed any while out.

Also top up afterwards too.

Happy running...
