How do you structure your running week?

Just wondering about the best way to structure your runs around the week, apparently it’s best to stick to the same days so you can get into a consistent routine. I’m thinking Monday, Wednesday and Friday with rest days between and (in theory) a complete recovery over the weekend.

I did run 1 on a Wednesday so I’m thinking of doing run 2 today and then resetting on Monday to do week 1 again so I’ve essentially had two bonus runs this week before starting properly next week.

I know it works differently for different people but what do you find works best for you and does my way sound like a good way to do it?

Moose, that’s the type of routine I follow, I usually do Tuesdays Thursday & Saturdays...it seems to work pretty well for me 😃

But don’t worry if you have to change it on occasion, I had a week off work this week, felt good on Monday so went for it then instead of Tuesday. It made no difference to my fitness or progress. The key is just make sure you run 3 times a week and DONT neglect your rest days, they are very important

Enjoy your progress 👍🏻

I did Mon-Wed-Fri all through the 9 weeks and never varied it - it was good to have a routine and it meant that nothing, but nothing, ever got in the way. I vary it a bit more these days but it's still a good schedule for me, and having weekends off is great 😀

For me it depends on work deadlines, on what else is happening, but primarily on how I feel. Experience shows that I do better physically and psychologically by taking an extra day or two off rather than forcing myself to run if I feel shattered.

The first time I did C25K some years back, I stuck fairly rigidly to a schedule, ended up hating most of it (the podcast music also contributed to the hate) and still found running extremely difficult after I finished the programme. This time round I'm being more gentle on myself and listening to my body and as a result am enjoying it far more and finding it far easier than previously. Thus my running days change from week to week. I intend to keep on the same gentle track post-C25K.

Hi preserved_Moose, as long as you always have at least one rest day in between runs I don't think it matters too much. But then I work shifts so have no routine anyway. Just do what works for you. 😁
