Hey all. Im doing this programme with our local council and theres about 45 of us who go out every monday and thursday. But i have hit a walk. Managed the week 7 2 run last thursday but last night could barely manage 10 mins! I have had calf tightness since starting this ive done my stretches, bought the shoes, now my feet go numb after 10 mins. I have struggled with this programme from the start and because i do it with a group we move on to the next week even if i never completed it. We have a fun run on 13 th may which would be our graduation but i know i will never run 30 mins without a break. Im always last anyway as i go so slow because of the calf tightness. Sorry for going on just feel really disheartened with the whole thing!
Week 8 Run 1: Hey all. Im doing this programme... - Couch to 5K
Week 8 Run 1
Don’t be disheartened. Running in a group isn’t for everyone and everyone will have different fitness levels. You could continue your C25k journey on your own or tell the organisers that the group runs aren’t meeting your needs and ask them for suggestions.
I know it’s not easy but give yourself credit for getting this far 👍🏽
I would NEVER have been able to do the programme in a group. I am quite a competitive person but a very slow runnier. I know I would've tried to run too fast and then been disheartened and given up. I have learned to run on my own (well with the support of this amazing forum, running alongside me). I would suggest trying a run by yourself, running really slowly and see how you get on
Re the shoes (I know this sounds daft) but are you tying them too tight? Your feet might be swelling during the run. Also your shoes should be a size bigger than your usual footwear.
Dont give up, just try something different
Time to go it alone I think. No pressure, repeat if you have to, take an extra rest day if you need to.
This way.... Of Course You Will Be Able To Run For 30 Minutes .
I shouted that last part to make my point clearly 🤨 and I was using my stern face.
Come on, you've got to week seven, now aim for week 9 at your own pace🚶♀️🚶♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Wow Vicky! You’ve done so well to get this far!👏👏👏👏
But, I agree with the other people before me.... if it’s not enjoyable for any reason then it’s not right for you.
I agree you should go it alone... I’ve done the whole program on my own... in fact, I don’t like running with others (!)🤫🤫🤫
If it would help with the confidence, go back to W5R1 and (seriously) run as slow as you can to give yourself the best chance of succeeding.
I’d love to know how you get on next, so PLEASE post an update (or send me a private message)
Wishing you the very best, and hoping you can find the enjoyment in this wonderful plan 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️

Being alone is lovely. Just you and the open road or trail. No hurry at all for C25k ! Slower the better in fact! You can afford to be Zen about the whole thing as there is no rush to get round
It could be your laces are too tight. Get them slackened off and give that a try.
Could you maybe go out on your own in Saturdays and repeat your last run nice and slowly? Might build up your confidence and stamina so you can stay with the group if that is what you want to do. You’ve come so far already! Hope you keep going either solo or with the group
