Hello All. 53 year old male that has lost 3 stone in 3 months leaving me at 5ft 9 and 11 and a half stone. I tried the C25K 2 years ago and rushed into it ending up with shin splints. I have since had a torn cartilage in my knee making me very sedantery.

I’m now on week 4 (one day to go) and feel I’m coping well. In fact after day one of week 4 which I was quietly dreading, I was pumping my fist on the warm down when Laura told me I had done well.

I am incredibly proud of myself and if this post inspires anybody all the better!

Onwards and Upwards

Cheers

Simon

No apologies needed! Great to read your post! Isn’t this a great programme? I’ve never ever run before and with my 50th in 2 weeks time I can’t quite believe i am only 3 runs away from graduation. Definitely worthy of a fist pump! Hope it continues to go well for you. 👍👍

Check out the forecast for next few days. Looks good for sweating off a few pounds! Of course not forgetting the sun block and hat 😎🎩

Wow that’s quick going 3 stone in 3 months, it took me 3 stone in 2 years 😂 but it’s off and I just amaze myself that I’m starting week 4, mid 50s and never run since a toddler. It’s great and I found that something I love ..who would guess its C25k ..all will call it running later down the line! Look forward to hearing your running adventures

Well done on your weight loss and getting to where you are, I am doing W4R1 tomorrow and not sure how it will go! I was wishing the last seconds would disappear last week so not sure if I will manage the longer run, but I will give it a go.

Congrats on 3 weeks under your belt. I’m no expert but I concentrated on a steady pace, breathing deep and my music. Don’t know about anybody else but I tend to listen to repeated radio shows rather than song after song, it takes your mind off by concentrating on what the DJ is saying.

In my case it’s usually Tony Blackburn’s cheesy jokes 😂

Well done that's an amazing achievement. Enjoy the programme, take it slow and steady and you will soon reach the podium 👏

Welcome.

It is not too late to read the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which explains how best to tackle this plan.

With your history it is clear that you are someone who tackles things with determination and enthusiasm, both of which are admirable traits, but learning to run requires some restraint, otherwise injury beckons, and you know how limiting that can be.

Keep it slow and steady.

Enjoy your journey.

That’s brilliant weight loss and I’m sure it will really help reduce the stress on your knees too. C25K is brilliant - keep it slow and steady. I graduated last May after which I found myself running 15-20k per week which resulted in around 2 stone weight loss in total. Unfortunately a spell on the IC has put me back with running and weiight so I’m picking up C25K again to get me back on track. I use MyFitnessPal app to help me with my diet as it uses my running stats to calculate calorie allowance 👍🏼

Keep up the great work and let us know how you are progressing 👍🏼🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️

Well done. I think this 0-5k is saving the NHS a lot of money. 3 stone in 3 months! Brilliant. Don't forget a little bit of stretching before and after the run and a bit on rest days if you can manage it. Really helps the joints. Take care and good luck. Great to hear your story.
