I am still struggling a bit to get through the first 10-15 minutes. I don’t know whether it’s nagging doubt catching up with me (feel like I’m not going to get through the first 5 mins!) or if I might need to be eating something beforehand. Because I run early (around 6.30), I don’t eaten anything usually but I’m wondering if I perhaps should? What do other early runners do?
The second half was much better and I actually ran a couple of extra minutes to get to 4K - just wanted to test myself as I knew I was nowhere near 5k but feel like I can work towards it now.

I think you’ll find the first 10 minutes is hard for many of us. Something to do with your body adjusting to the change in oxygen demand. I have found it’s more like the first 5 minutes as I’ve gone on but then sometimes most of the 30 minutes feels pretty toxic 😂
Toxic ten is so well documented... it happens to many of us..
Hydration every day is important.. not just run days.. and folk have different ideas about eating.. check this post out if you haven't already.. plenty of advice in there.
Good to know it’s not just me! I do need to keep an eye on my fluid intake - I just forget some days. I’ll definitely look at some moving warm up stretches too. Thanks for the tips 😊
