About to do my first Run

Hi Newbie here, decided that when I get home from work I'm going to do my first run. This is mainly to lose weight but also hoping some exercise will help with my anxiety problems. Seem to have forgotten that since losing my gall bladder I need to look after myself or the pounds will just keep on piling on! Wanted to post on here so I don't back out (not quite ready to tell friends and family yet, they'd just think its another thing id give up with after a week)

I’ve just finished week 1 and I’m finding that this group is really helping me as everyone is in the same boat - there is always someone doing the same run as you, or someone that is feeling the same ☺️ No one is judging you so go out and be awesome, you’ll surprise yourself when you get out there.

Go for it!

I felt exactly the same as you did - didn't want to tell anyone I was doing it - however have found telling a few people (who almost fell on the floor when I told them!) has spurred me on. Especially when my friends said I would never do it. They know me well and know I want to prove them wrong! Also I needed something else to focus on as my partner was diagnosed with cancer and going through treatment which has been really tough. I was really nervous doing my first run - but I just dug deep, stuck in the earphones, whacked the music up and got on with it. I'm on Week 3 now and although it's tough I am enjoying it! Good luck tonight!

You've chosen a fabulous path. This programme is fantastic and it teaches you more than just how to run.

We're rooting for you👍👏😁

I totally get you, I'm posting on here to keep me honest.

My other half is away this week so it's been easy for me to nip out without any sceptical looks, he'll be smirking on the other side if his face when I do my first 5k 🙄

I just started today and did W1R1 this morning! Haven't told friends or family as quite overweight I don't know what their reaction would be. Determined to do this even though this mornings session was tough :-)

Well done! I'm only one run ahead of you so know how hard it is to make that start! Took me four days before I felt I could do run 2 yesterday but I feel better for it already! Those who aren't supportive of you making positive changes are (to my way of thinking) part of the excess weight to be shed!
