Today, I completed run 2 and far exceeded my own expectations.... maybe I really CAN do this after all!
I have never been a runner (not very good at it and never enjoyed it!) but have always desperately wanted to run. My weight has always been my barrier and excuse (at only 5ft 3in and 17st 11lb it really is an issue), but inspiring stories from others who are bigger and have been successful have pushed me to give it a go.
So I finally bit the bullet on Sunday and forced myself out there for the first run. It was bloody hard and I had to walk the last 3 run sections, but it gave me a sense that I could achieve it in increments and I was surprised by how much I actually enjoyed it and looked forward to getting out again. However, my own demons had crept back in on my rest day. The pain in my legs was immense and walking was a challenge! I had read some posts about people who had found run 2 much harder than the first and found the whole thing incredibly daunting, but somehow, managed to talk myself IN to getting out again (a new phenomenon for me!) aided by a pair of new trainers.
So here I am today, having completed run 2 and I have to say it felt bloody AMAZING!!! Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would complete ALL the run sections and feel as in control and energised as I did!! But after reading some posts on here, i realised i needed to slow my pace more (i didn't think it was possible to go any slower, but it really was and it made all the difference) and take the walk sections a little slower too.
Just wanted to share my success (cause I'm feeling pretty chuffed with myself π) and let any others in my position know that you really CAN do it! Xx
