I have done both ways, I used to do run 1 on a Saturday in the early weeks, when the kids were at swimming and had a bonus day off on a Friday but in the later weeks everything got a bit mixed up due to awful weather and being on holiday (both at the same time unfortunately) so I ended up doing a few weeks with just a day between each run. Depends if you think you need the extra day off a week or not.
Not a daft question at all ! I used to do Monday , Wednesday and Friday have 2 rest days then start a new week again on the Monday or do Tuesday , Thursday , Saturday .
As long as you have at least 1 rest day, I don't think it matters . The runs don't all have to be done in one week, no harm in carrying over if you have 2 rest days inbetween.
Hi - I like at least two rest days so I just run when I can but try not to leave more than 3 rest days in between - means I am slower than some on completing weeks but happy with that - this means I have no normal day to run but I quite like that Guess it's just what you are happy with....
I really don't think it matters so long as you have one rest day. You may find that as the runs get longer it's quite nice to have two days rest occasionally!
Thank you .. I think I might do every other day to begin with and if it becomes tougher to do that as the weeks go on will add an extra rest day.
I'm just keen to crack on and also take advantage of my eagerness - took a few weeks of having the app for me to actually start 😏 - I'm due to do my first park run when around Sep time so would like to at least run a good portion of it by then...
I went through the programme running every other day and had no problems. If you need fixed days for running it can be difficult, but if you're flexible it's great. See how it goes!
Every other day is fine - it's just important to leave a rest day between runs. From about Week 6 onwards I needed two rest days between as my legs would still be tight and I didn't want to risk any pulled muscles. One, two or mixing it up depending how you feel is all fine though - totally up to you.
I have not set days to run I just wait at least a day in between runs. Often end up with 2 days due to life getting in the way, sometimes more but I guess sticking to set days helps with planning and with sticking to programme. Later on I planned to run every other day but never managed to keep it up. Must say I agree with Melly4012 that after long runs my legs have sometimes needed a couple of days to recover
Thank you all for your advice , I decided to run today and completed week 1 ! It was marginally easier than the R1 ! Looking forward to Monday to start W2. Also this was my first morning run , maybe that was something to do with it. Certainly helped to blast away the 3 accidental glasses of wine from last night 😬
