Hi there and welcome to What is your week December (1)
Nice to see so many of you joining in, it is a great support to everyone.
The idea of "what is your week"
Every week we are going to put up a post so you can add in a little post underneath to say what week you are planning to do this week.
Sample post (feel free to put as much or as little as you like)
Hi I am Realfoodieclub and this week I am doing wk 3, looking forward to it.π
We are growing so much at the moment and I wanted to have a little fun post so we can see who is on what week of the program and hopefully it will help you to feel more included with the forum.
It will help other runners to know they are not alone on their own with their weeks and help everyone feel supported.
Please remember it doesn't matter if you stay on the same week for a while, that is fine it is a journey and it really doesn't matter how long it takes, it will be so worth it when you get to the final run.
At the end of the month there will be a December certificate for you to download and keep, just a little memento of the fact you have completed a whole moth of the program. Another full month of running for you.
If you have just graduated this will be a great place to keep you motivated, there is always the Quest on the Bridge to 10km forum as well for graduates.
I will add all the names from this week under this post. Every week for the month of September the names will roll over into another post.
Let's get a good list going so we can support each other.
(Come on you lurkers you can do it as well. π)
Wishing you all a happy healthy week.
Rfc x.

Stuck on W8 R3! Need a cure for runners block! Just don't seem to be able to complete this run. Second attempt today and only managed 18 minutes of the run.....hoping it will be third time lucky on Sunday.
Dont worry about it too much - your out running in the worst of the weather, you may feel down about not completing that week, but it will come, just give yourself some praise for getting out there at all in this weather!
Welcome onboard, your name has been added. Slow down and go slower again. It might be worth taking a fun run. No podcast, just go out with some of your favourite music, or quiet, find a new route and just relax and see how you feel. That sometimes helps to shake the Gremlins away.
W6R1 completed last night, on schedule to graduate on the 22nd December - which is also my last day at work before a well earned Christmas break.
Already looking forward to consolidation runs over the Christmas period and more to the point, being able to run in daylight for the first time.
I am slightly out of kilter as my programme weeks overlap calendar weeks. So, should be half way through week 6 of C25K by end of week.
My wife Karen and I are doing this together and hope to graduate together by New Year.
I will be continuing with my other activities and am hoping-again-that my shoulder is well enough to return to the pool after more than a year away: I can't believe how much I have missed it. Getting anywhere near the 8km+ a week I was swimming before is probably not possible...and I have a long readjustment and rebuilding programme ahead.
I also have my strength stuff, stretching and flexibility messing about, daily walking of the dogs, my garden work and 'recreational hunting for balls in long grass and amid trees' or golf as others call it.
Life is pretty damned good and I am very lucky.
Except that I have my 60th Birthday this week: I am convinced this is some sort of accounting or clerical error and-despite best efforts of the family-am determined to ignore it.
Welcome onboard, your name has been added. Hehe, celebrate it. Look at all you are doing, if you asked you at 10 years old if you could do all that the answer would probably be no, never forget to acknowledge your accomplishments. π.
Part of my run today was alongside a canal until I neared the last 12 strides where I came upon a metal cage and the words towpath closed. I did think of trying to edge round but thought I might end up in the canal.
I have just got back from week 7 run 1, tick, and about 3 weeks ago said I gave myself until March or April then started running more regularly and thought even with breaks in between I could be finished by Christmas if I keep making progress. This should be on things I did not know on day 1 it does not matter how fit you feel anything can happen. A few weeks ago I was walking and stepping off a kerb and car came around the corner I moved back quickly and jarred my back and taken a few weeks to recover but not the first time for me so I am going to have to take more care. I went back to week 6 run 3 just to ensure I had a good starting point. I am currently working a 100 miles away, so no more walking to work, so my time is going to be limited so I shall just have to see how it goes. I am just playing it by ear now rather than making predictions.
Welcome onboard, your name has been added. Wise move to use caution with an old injury. The program works best when it fits round you, that way you are more likely to carry on. Good luck with your week.
After this back issue I am not pushing anything but also working 100 miles away so my time is limited but there may be days when I am not needed and weekends so still plan to continue when I can but maybe more gingerly until I feel stronger.
Hi there π i started week 4 on wednesday & due to do run 2 tomorrow morning.probably one of the toughest things i have ever had to push myself to do x
Just completed r3w6 and that 25 mins was hard. Numerous times I could have stopped, I would say the mental challenge was harder than the physical. I kept going thinking about how far I have come in 6 weeks when in week 1 I struggled with 69 secs, very proud of my achievement so far and looking to graduate before xmas π€
I just did the w7r1 another straight 25 min run..and so many times I wanted to stop and bargained with myself roughly my internal monologue.....okay just get 10 mins .....slow and steady....okay halfway.... okay right just run as much as you can then you can have peak at the time ...slow and steady slow and steady ...
Wow 19 mins.....well letβs make it to 20 ...okay come on 20 mins it would be tragic not to complete....
Sanj comes on says I should put a bit more speed in to the last Minute and all I can think ....I have barely anything left...just some choice words for sanj...I just need to make 60 ...
But then Iβm done !!!
And my doubting is vanquished
But Iβm on travel so have no idea where I am ....thank goodness for google maps!
Definitely agree, just as much a psychological challenge as a physical one! Sunday I got soaked and Wednesday ran in freezing conditions in the dark. However, I do feel I learn something more every time Iβm out. Iβm a work-in-progress and Iβm loving it!
Thankfully, plantar fasciitis not getting any worse but now that Jo Whiley is upping the anti, Iβm discovering new aches and pains! So far managing them with the usual stretches and a daily home session of pilates.
So far so happy π
And thank you Realfoodieclub for the work you do for this great group! π
Week 9, R1 and R2 already done and I am planning on graduating on Saturday or Sunday. Bonus would be to actually reach 5K on this final run (did 4.6 and 4.81 so far).
W5R2 next. I started the programme well and progressed to W4 without any problems but then suffered a cracked rib (4 weeks off until could run without too much pain). Redid W3 just to be sure and was surprised I was still fit enough to jump straight back into the prog. Looking forward to W5R3 for some reason, maybe because I'll likely feel it's much more of an achievement than 15mins with walk breaks. Also did Cooper test today and ran 2160m in 12 mins, 10.7km/hr, 6.65 mph, 5.5 min/km (aged 55) and looking up that data made me feel better as it shows above average fitness for my age group! So it's doing me some good straight away (even though I can't say I feel fit at all).
Just completed week 9 run 3 and feel the first time happy I could not have done better. I only completed 2.5 miles and taken me a lot of conversations in here for me to think that's ok, it's not 3.1 miles but do you know what it is ok. It was a number of people who helped me to realise that but in the main Icklegui, Oldfloss, Millsie and Ju Ju got me through the difficult opening runs where I nearly gave up and somehow found the confidence to keep going so thank you.
