This time last year I couldn’t run 200m. I started the couch 2 5k course in August and graduated in early November last year. Today I ran my first ever half marathon. Stick with the course and believe in yourself. You’ll be amazed where you end up.

You’re doing fab - so far my longest is 16.5km, but since my Alzheimer’s Challenge to run the year the really long runs don’t work for me - but they are on my to do list for next year. So I am very impressed especially with the recency of your graduation - that really makes you a committed runner...

It’s been quite a whirlwind. I’ve trained hard for it. I want to do the Headcorn half marathon next year and the Paddock Wood Half again. The crowds all along the route were phenomenal.

That’s fab you must feel so proud - it’s a hell of a thing you’ve done

I’m really pleased. I’ve raised nearly £1,000 for Cardiac Risk in the Young as well.

Oh that’s fab - a double celebration then

Absolutely. It’s the money for the charity in memory of my daughter’s friend that really mattered today. Everything else was a bonus.

If you ever do a half marathon I recommend the Paddock Wood one in Kent. Unbelievably friendly.
