Well my forum friends I have just completed W4R3 so now onto week 5. Run 2 yesterday and run 3 today wow I’m on a roll. First run was 12 minutes and 10 minutes for the second run. I just kept going through the rest periods, I can’t believe I kept going.
My wife set foot in the gym for the first time ever today with me and I couldn’t resist getting a sweat going and getting my heart rate up. Not going tomorrow. Rest day is needed🙂
Hi Steve, you are going off program a bit😆...no rest days and then not sticking to the recommended run intervals..
Rest days are when your muscles repair and strengthen, at the gym you can always do a lower impact exercise like cross-training or cycling or rowing on your rest days...
The IC is not a fun place to be, we know the program works if you follow it correctly.😊x
I know, I know you can spank my bottom if you see me.😉
I will settle into the program again on Monday as rest days are important. I’m going tomorrow to help my son with his strength training as he is doing the Tough Mudder run next month and needs the help so no running for me tomorrow I promise just weights💪🏼
Bluebirdrunner is so right.. the programme is so structured, as to prevent injury.. we may feel fine, we may be able to keep going but the hidden damage is there..
As Admin and mentors, we have to advise following the programme.. because we have lost many over-eager runners, through injury..and less experienced runners also may follow suit.
I know you are going to hit the porgarmme again Monday, so please take care
I know why and how it happened Steve but rest days and the walking intervals as so important.🤔
I'm pleased for your progress but concerned you might have pushed too far.
Part of the programme is learning to do as you're told. I struggled with that at times but I was given great advice to join the programme and it paid off.
