As some of you know I had a difficult day yesterday with doubts setting in after some unhelpful comments made to me by friends. So this morning more determined than ever week 2 completed and 10000 steps all done before 9am and I feel great. So thank you all for your support yesterday x

I remember the bad winter of 1963, the deep snow hung around for weeks, great fun for me a 7 year old!😁

Jude1963 profile image

Yes I was born in that February. Always loved snow. Maybe that’s why!!

Jullaly profile image

Well I'm a summer baby so ..dont like snow lol

My birthday is 28th Feb 1955, a good job I wasn't born on a leap year 29th or I would only be about 15!😂 Mind you, I don't feel much older than that, most of the time, especially when I get out running!😊

Good stuff! Remember to stretch well after your excercise, it'll help minimise any aches/soreness.😊

Yes thats interesting, I'm just getting some pain to front of left ankle, will look to do some proper stretches. I have neglected that so far

Melo_smiles profile image

I usually like to run just after the school run and agree definitely feels better to run in the morning. Yesterday I ran once my husband was home from work which took a bit of motivation, thankfully once I was out the door I was ok 😊

1963 was an absolutely vintage year!!! When I told my 2 bezzies that I had started the program the slim one that walks her dog for two hours a day said fantastic go for it. The fatty one with diabetes said 'soooo bad for the knees'. Says it all really... .So glad that you have had a better day and wow what a day!! Fantastic achievement.

Jullaly profile image

Thank you, it is very interesting, I wasn't prepared for friends actually having an opinion about my health campaign, I hope I am always positive and encourage my friends in whatever they wish to achieve.

I always think it's a form of control - like the partner who buys you doughnuts when they know u r trying to lose weight. I think if people r unfit or overweight they feel threatened when u start doing what they know they should be doing.

They’re jealous! The green eyed monster!

I tentatively told a friend, that I now did a ‘little running’. She reacted by giving me a silence, then sternly told me she couldn’t run, as she’d had a hip operation. Whew!

They’re not used to this new you! Well, keep at it- hey let’s go and bug them all!

See you around fellow runner!

Jullaly profile image
JullalyGraduate in reply to pampam

Thanks, you are quite right, they are not used to my new found determination. Im quite taken aback that anyone would be less than positive when trying to improve health and fitness. x

Well done you! You are an inspirational woman, taking control of your health and losing all that weight. Not easy! And now running - I have found it requires a surprising amount of courage.

It is odd how friends (sometimes well-meaning) can make these kind of comments that are SO unhelpful. For the moment, I have only told my closest friend that I am doing this because I don't want to risk anyone making a comment that doesn't help. These may not be mean but might actually be discouraging, even if they are perfectly pleasant. And I don't want anyone keeping tabs on me. This forum is a better way to get the support and encouragement I am sure to need, I think.

All the best for your runs, Wonder Woman 😊👏!

Jullaly profile image
JullalyGraduate in reply to Leojon66

Thank you, it really is the support on here that is getting me through something I didn't believe could be possible. Isn't it sad that people can be discouraging without even realising it. Here I am in middle of week 4 and loving it. Luckily I live in a remote area so I can get out and run ridiculously early to avoid anybody at all, that is quite sad in itself but I am still building confidence and trying to believe I can do this. Keep going and post on here regularly, if something has not gone so well everyone picks you up and if things have gone super they are all clapping you on from cyberspace ..this is a marvellous place. Look forward to hearing your adventures x
