Breathing!

Hi just (about) completed W4R3 with a bouncy dog in tow 😏 Being asthmatic I try and concentrate on breathing properly when doing the running sections, but still find myself nearly hyperventilating until the walk section.

Would be grateful for any advice, as the legs can keep going but the lungs keep giving out 😳

Make sure you're using the preventative regularly and as instructed then when you're out on a run slow it right down.

Simple...........slow down.

To run effectively and sustainably you need to be able to breathe fully and deeply, which is why the advice both on apps/podcasts and the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... is to run at a pace at which you can hold a conversation, without gasping. If you can't breathe properly you will tire quickly.

It doesn't matter if you can walk faster. This easy conversational pace will speed up as you get fitter.

Running too fast slow down to a conversational pace, slow is key, and don't worry about breathing properly just breath as you usually do mainly through the mouth when running..

If you meds are sorted.. then just slow down and breathe:)

Thanks everyone, think I need to do some sessions without the hound so I can keep a steady pace. Meds are fine and not wheezing, so will try and slow down 😊
