WK2 R2, Hard Work

Feeling a bit down, just completed R2 which I found really hard slog, R1 was a lot easier so started today very positive but after the first 90 sec run it was all hard going. I did complete it but discouraged as I felt I was at the beginning again.

Hopefully just a bad day.

Hi and well done - you completed the run, which is fantastic! I found more or less every run hard, but the programme does prepare you very well to progress to longer and longer runs. Keep going and I'm sure you will succeed! Keep posting. xx😀👍💪

Thanks Jo. Good to hear that a graduate struggled but still made it. So keen to run just have to be more patient I guess.

Yes - be patient and take it slow and steady - that's what worked for me. Good luck - you will do it! xx

I have just finished week 2 today. I’m the same found run 2 much harder than run 1. Glad I kept going tho as run 3 today was good. I guess u just have to trust the process and keep going. Good luck

Thanks for that, good to hear from others who have a shared experience. You're right it is about trusting the process and part of me thinks but what if it doesn't work for me, which I know is not helpful. Good luck with week 3. Let us know how it goes.

It will work for you. I’m currently finding week 7 hard but I’m running for 25 minutes so something is changing, and if I can do it, so can you.

W7 is too much to comprehend for me at the moment so well done to you. I can't wait to be able to run for 25 mins. Thanks for your post.

Hi just put it down as a crap run, we all get them but you did it which shows nice grit. If it makes you feel any better, I did 6k this morning and it was really really rubbish. I graduated last August and so today I thought it should be a breeze but it wasn’t every step was like lead..., and the ‘breeze’ run felt like I was running headlong into a force 10 gale.

onwards and upwards my co-runner, we will do nicer and better next time out.

Hey Jan I get that I'm sure there was a hurricane just where I was running. Definitely onwards and upwards. Your replies are always motivating. Thank you.

I completed week 2 yesterday and I also found run 2 a lot harder than the first. However, keep at it because fun 3 was the easiest (for me) of the three runs. Best of luck to you.

Thanks Happy, that is really helpful and encouraging to hear. I'll know this time tomorrow if I am onto W3. Good luck with your run.

I’m also starting week 3 tomorrow which I’m really looking forward to.

Oh, don’t feel disheartened...some weeks we expect to be easy because we’ve done the week before but it doesn’t always work like that...you say you started positive but maybe your positivity made you start too fast? Try again but slower...there’s no rush...before you know it these early weeks will be a distant memory

Thanks for your encouraging words. You maybe right but the struggle I have is I find it physically uncomfortable going really slow but I'm not capable yet of maintaining what feels a more comfortable stride. But R3 tomorrow so will just keep trying.

That’s the spirit...since graduation I’ve run the ‘speed’ podcast & that feels slow to me, it’s like cartoon running!! But, even if I take extra steps in between it’s def slower than I run naturally so that helps me complete the run...I’m sure you’ll be fine

Lori jay, good luck for tomorrow,s run. If you can’t get your pace slower try shortening your stride. Sometimes for no reason at all we all have meh runs, so please don’t be put off.
