I started the C25K programme on my treadmill some months ago, concerned that I wanted to prove myself be fit enough to run before I ran outside. For various reasons, mainly working away from home and lack of gumption, I had to start again a couple of times. At my best I completed week 6 run 1, so I was delighted to get through week 6 run 2 today. I know I am running very slowly, but I’m sort of OK with that.
The breakthrough moment came for me last week when a friend was staying and she said she’d like to have a go too. She left on week 2 run 1, but the most important aspect she left was her sheer enthusiasm.
So here I am, one run further than I’ve ever managed, and with the rest of the runs scheduled in my diary as non-negotiable. So thank you Robbie (and I can’t be the only one who says thank you Sanjeev when he says congrats- or can I??).

Well done Ellie, you're doing great, and it sounds like you're doing all the right things. Of course you shouldn't ever worry about your speed. Running is running however fast it is, it's about gait not speed, so just feel proud of yourself that you've come this far, past W5R2(!) and know that you can easily do the next one if you pace yourself. If you feel yourself running out of steam, just slow down. Seriously, it works!!
All the best, Neil

Thanks, Neil, I know you are right about speed really, but just need reminding sometimes. I appreciate the encouragement though, really do want to achieve this.
Ellie - you’re back - nice to see you here and with the enthusiasm too. Scheduling the runs is a great trick and I used to answer Mr Smooth back so no you’re not mad or alone. If its just the two of us, well so be it!
Happy running and let’s hope Spring is arriving

Brilliant to hear from you, and you've made such progress. Lovely to be in touch again, and I commit to doing it this time. I have to say I'm feeling better for it! It's not Spring weather in my part of Wales at the moment, though the bulbs say otherwise.
I run to Laura, and I have a constant stream of replies to her!.
I also had to carefully plan running days to fit in around my work, and still allow a rest day, even got up at 04.30 once as there was no way to fit it in, I had to do it before a 13 hour shift 😑
For me that was week 6 run 1 and I enjoyed it. Now I'm looking forward to week 8 run 2 tomorrow, and I still can clearly remember the dread I felt going to bed the night before week 5 run 3.
Congratulations on your persistence. This thing changes you.
