I'm on week 4 of C25k, and feeling a bit sorry for myself as after getting over shinsplints in week 2, then a sore ankle in week 3, I now have sore knees! Last run my knees hurt, especially the left one, but after a day's rest they seemed ok so I ran today as planned, only to find the pain returned as soon as I started running, and remained all the way through. It's not a really bad pain but after Googling around and reading other people's posts here I think I should rest for a few days this time as I'm scared of making it worse. Feel disappointed that I can't plough on with the programme as I was feeling good at sticking to it so far.
Little injuries: I'm on week 4 of C25k, and... - Couch to 5K
Little injuries
Well done for being cautious and also for the runs.
What are you wearing on your feet? if you are not wearing proper running shoes, fitted after a gait analysis done at a specialist running shop, then they may well be contributing to the pains.
Have you read the guide to the plan? healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Resting is your first port of call.
Thank you for your reply. I do have proper running shoes fitted at a running shop, but they are about 10 years old - I took up running then for a while and didn't have any injuries. Do you think I should get fitted for a new pair? Thank you for the link, I will give it a read.
Hi. Definitely. I was told that our gait can change over time. I was having problems early on and got fitted shoes after a GA and haven’t looked back since!
Don’t have to be expensive, lots of people say to ask for last seasons stock as they’re much cheaper... mine are luminous pink(!) not very “me” but we’re half price 👍
Hope it helps

Hope you find a solution soon! Everyone seems to encounter niggles at various stages - it seems to be part of the journey.
Strengthening thigh muscles and buttocks definitely helped me with knee pain.
But you still want to keep going which is important. The runs will be waiting for you just as soon as you're ready 😊
