That’s it then. Time to start thinking about how to sustain it.
There have been some easier runs and some tougher runs (more of the latter) but I’ve been constantly amazed at how the programme moves you forward and helps you complete things you didn’t think you could. This community has been great inspiration (especially the mantra to slow it down 😀) and I cant begin to list all the helpful advice and motivation it’s given.
One thing that really worked for me so far has been routine. I started walking for thirty mins last year early each morning. I think that has helped with routine as I’m up and out anyway so going in running kit isn’t a big deal.
And one confession. Despite all the totally correct advice, in week three I replaced my 15 year old trainers that were making my shins hurt with new shoes picked on colour and price with no gait analysis. Only found out two weeks later they were trail shoes 😀. I got lucky and they’re pretty comfy but I will be getting a gait analysis soon.

Thanks Liz. I definitely got lucky that trail shoes are neutral and they don’t seem to have done me any harm so far. But definitely not to be recommended. Found the locally running shop now and will be off there next week.
Thanks. I have to say I’m totally buzzing today. Never achieved anything remotely sporty before. Definitely slow and steady - and I will be seeking out the trails shortly for sure.
