Me too. Just this evening I checked out a side lane in the village that I found links into various trails I use. And I've only lived here 30 years ๐
Completed W3 R1 this morning. Perhaps not my brightest idea as it's pretty icy out there but I feel great! Was much tougher than W1 and W2 but I pushed through. Think I need to slow down a bit though, if I want to keep increasing the distance, was just a bit tired at the end but the remarkable thing is how in just a few weeks my recovery time has decreased hugely.
w7r1 done today! The 25 minutes today was a little better than w6r3. Still tough though! I bought myself an early birthday present - a running watch! So nice to look at my wrist and see my pace, how far I've gone and for how long I've been running for! Today it helped me slow keep my pace steady. Sometimes I speed up and don't realize it until I'm completely winded and my heart rate is soaring. Oops!
Well done ToniCR, glad you are feeling better, and onto the nice steady runs that will lead you to the Graduation podium...
Remember to start slowly, to help you get through the first 10 mins, while your breathing settles and then steady through the run, leaving the flourish (if you have one) to the last minute to finish in style๐..
Your running watch will be great to chart your pace and distance, so you can see your progress, but for now just concentrate on completing the running time required...
W7 R3 today and felt great! I even finished with a flourish this time! I sped up a teeny bit for the last 5, and a bit more for the last 60 seconds. It felt wonderful to finish a run with a little extra in the tank!
So most of the past week has pretty much been a write-off - having stayed safely off the snow and ice at the weekend, I was looking forward to going out on Monday night for a run - and got hit with a migraine which has almost completely gone now... Iโm not going to risk a run today as Iโm off to see my best friend for a day out tomorrow, and *nothing* gets in the way of that!
So roll on the weekend, and Iโll get back to it then...
Someone ran past I was was walking home this evening, and I so wanted to go for a run. But my head is still not entirely clear, so I know it would be a Very Bad Plan...
Looking forward to my day out tomorrow - off to the zoo! So itโll be a day of lots of walking for sure. And yes, Friend knows all about C25k, I think has vaguely considered trying it herself, and is very supportive and encouraging of me
Iโm going out in a minute now, honestly... the park is now closed so itโll be nice and peaceful, but itโs still light, so should be ideal. So why donโt I want to do this?!
Hi, I've literally just signed up for this, very unfit having not gone anywhere near a gym in 20 odd years - turning 47 next month and have to get myself motivated, hope this helps!!
Week six run three - twenty five minutes! Trying to over-write the internal messaging that says " you must be joking! " with the positive messages from this forum "it's the first of the long, luxurious runs without having to stop for a walking break" - well I got to the end so something must be working - not sure it feels quite luxurious yet - but here's to week seven.
Having a week or longer off due to a dog-walking-in-thigh-deep-snow calf injury lol. The Joy. Obviously itching to run again and in a slightly worse mood than usual, but not risking making the injury worse.
W7R1 today and absolutely elated! Last run was a bit of a struggle with last third into the wind, but today felt great...and speeded up for the last minute. I am a runner and will do this ๐
Although I was fit and sporty when younger, I could never run any distance. I honestly never imagined ever being a runner, but big birthday this year and decided I was going to give it another try - failed last year as trying to do too much too soon - C25K is just brilliant!
My gosh were my muscles sore from the last run!! Managed to get another run in today, again same distance however this time is slowed the pace a little further and felt much better. Bad news is that my right knee is giving a little ache now.
Possibly a bit of too much too soon comes to mind.
So the question is, to run or not to run tonight? muscles are fine but knee is still giving me a niggle, was thinking of a short run just to keep up the momentum and keep up the routine.
If you ran yesterday and your knee is still sore today, Iโd say give it today off and see how it feels tomorrow. You donโt want to turn a minor niggle into a bigger injury by being too impatient to let it heal.
