Greetings fellow runners! After resting my rebellious knees for a week, I've completed Week 2 Run 2 (again) and am feeling rather good! I'm paying very close attention to every foot strike - I've found that the more I stay toward my toes the better my knees feel. My shoes, however, have proven to be a disappointment - the right shoe irritates my toes so I may have to call a do-over.
I hope you are all doing well - you continue to inspire me. Happy running, everyone!!

Thats a shame. Is there a dedicated running store near you. I remember you said you got them at a sports store. I'm not sure they have the same level of experience.
When you say they bother your toes, are they a tad small? I wear a 4.5 normally but my running shoes are 5.5 and just perfect. There was no breaking in period needed at all.
I hope you get it sorted and can get back to fun runs again soon 👍🤗
There are several actual running stores near me and yes, the 'sports store' was more a solution to my impatience than a good idea. I'm going to give my trainers a few more runs, see if I can't break them in, but, if not, I'll be going to get the good stuff!
Perhaps rather than spending out just yet, pop into a run shop and just see what they do recommend for you. If there are no major differences then the shoes may not be a write off. If, however something basic like the size is out then it might be obvious. If they're friendly enough you may be able to just take those in with you and see what they reckon. 👍
I know you say you have had knee problems, and I assume you got the trainers to try and help this, so I wouldn't try and change your foot strike to compensate, you should let the trainers do their work naturally. Otherwise you may be causing the toe issues. There is a lot of psuedoscience around gait and heel strike and although it may be proven it's better not to, it has also been shown it can be very detrimental forcing yourself to try to change it. I wouldn't change my natural gait unless I was being instructed to do so by a podiatrist or running coach(and I was an athlete).
