So I lost weight, and once I was comfortable enough to join the gym.. I did 😊.. I do 4 spin classes a week, 1 boxercise class, and sessions in the gym too.. but I really really want to πŸƒ run! So I've signed up to join couch to 5k which starts on Wednesday.. very nervous!! Also downloaded the app to my phone which I've just done run 1 tonight... which was relatively easy-ish!! Any tips welcome, I struggle with my breathing.. and my legs feel so heavy at times.. how do you push through this without giving up?

Hi Jen0880 and welcome! Well done on so many wonderful achievements that you have already made.

You are starting an exciting journey doing the C25K. Just relax, ( relaxed shoulders help) & go at a slow gentle pace. Just - not even thinking about breathing helped me in the early weeks - it will sort itself out.

More experienced people will come along with useful links for you. πŸ˜„

Thank you !!

Just breathe, go slowly, and keep going. It does work...I’m on my second attempt at C25K having fallen out of the habit of running after graduating first time round, so I know it is possible. Sounds as though you are already well and truly off the couch!

I am off the couch well and truly... but I've always found running really hard .. but I'm determined this time to do it!!

Most people find running hard as they start off too fast. You have to run slow - super slow - to start with. You can get faster with time, if you want - but the benefit comes with running very slowly, and finishing each run. That way stamina and lung capacity is built! Enjoy! You can do this. πŸ˜€

Hello and welcome aboard!

You will find both of those things will pretty much sort themselves out along the way. Just take each session one at a time. This programme is amazing and really works.

The biggest battle is all mental. Just believe that you can do it. Commit to yourself and follow through. You'll be surprised where this will take you.

Enjoy πŸ˜πŸ€—

Hi, Read all the FAQ Posts,Visit top tips, everything on the C25k,

You are training a running brain as well as your running body to sustain you to run continuously for 30 mins.

No running and impact activities on repair days following your 3 runs per week.

Your cardio stuff any day every day if you wish.Active 10 walking app Brillant also every day.Alt to spinner.

Strength stuff also gym or programmes here.

If you are doing 7 hours alreadyπŸ€” incl your 3 runs and you have time think about doubling it slowly πŸ€”

Do not be nervous only brings tension.

Mentor IannodaTruffe says never feared any training run only enjoyed.

Believe it and believe in you.

You will run and it will change your life.πŸŒŸπŸ‘πŸ‘

If you can't breathe, you are going too fast.

Read the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which has lots of detail and advice.

Enjoy your journey.

Take the advice from IannodaTruffe

Slow down.... You have no need to push..this is a journey of enjoyment and not endurance:)

You just keep telling yourself that you can do it, that the programme wouldn't ask you to do more than you were able. Then distraction therapy is always good, if I focus on my arms then my legs take care of themselves for a bit!
