Well I have my 1st day of week 7 to complete today!
My last run (ok, ok steady away jog π) was a tad more enjoyable than the previous ones as I decided to slow it down a bit so I was able to keep going. I do my run on the treadmill at home. I still cant work out if im running at kph or mph!! Ive even looked in the manual but still discombobulated! Anyway.... I usually brisk walk at 3.5 and run/jog/lope at 4.5 but do feel exhausted at the end π
So as I mentioned last run I still did my brisk walk at 3.5 but dropped my run to 4.1 and it was much easier π
Is there anyone else out there who is doing the c25k on a treadmill in my age group of 56?? Would love to hear how your getting on.
Also (sorry to waffle on) I really would love to be running outside but a little shy at being stared/laughed at π I know im going to have to get over this at some point as my goal is to run a half marathon with my son π€ but unfortunately I cant train with him as he lives in Wales and im in Yorkshire. My son is a dedicated runner and been running for about 5 years now. I just want to make him proud that we run a half marathon together. He supports me so much he never pushes or puts me down. Always praises how well ive done. I had a stroke about 2 years ago so I just want to get myself fit and healthy. I need to loose some more weight about another stone to go. So if there is any treadmillers with any tips or stories to share that would be good. Also brave outdoor runners to tempt me outside to run π€

Lots of treadmill running goes on here so you'll be in good company. Lots of fifty somethings too. Oh, and sixty and seventy somethings too.
Always run slowly for the programme. Slow is just great for this caper. No need to worry about anything else; just completing the session is the only thing you need to do.
Running outdoors is complete freedom and such good fun I canβt tell you ππ. No-one gives a flying @*#% what you look like! People are just too busy getting on with their own lives to worry about us. I took myself off to our local Woods and country park and did the programme there. No one needs to know if you donβt want them to. I ran like a ninja for ages π
Itβs great fun and spring is around the corner, lighter nights and mornings means we get more time to play out. Having the added bonus of running with your son, and a race in mind, will give the the extra motivation to do the sessions.
If you overhaul your diet now, and eat drink healthily alongside your exercise, then you should see some improvements real soon. It is easier running lighter than hauling extra stones about the place π
Read the programme notes on the right hand side with the link in blue text and happy running! Keep us up to date with your progress ππ
I can't wait to try the running outdoors. My best buddy Ted my Border Collie said he is more than happy to join in the run π ive decided im going to get this programme done and then venture out. By then the weather should be kinder. π
Thank you for that π well im still trundling on. Im a day behind has we had our 1st 2 Hebridian lambs born last week so was sorting out extending the maternity unit π but I finished week 8 today. So week9 here we come!! π€
