Week 7 Run 1...inside!

Well, it's certainly different running on a treadmill. I have to say I found it more manageable on a treadmill than outside. Stuck to a pace of 8km/ph and completed the run. I looked like a tomato (as usual) for an hour afterwards but still felt good. All of a sudden, graduation doesn't seem too impossible!  I will be returning to the great outdoors for run 2 this week though, as I felt a bit like the air-conditioned gym (complete with t.v.) was not really me! Good to know there is no excuse for ever missing a run though.  Thanks to those who offered advice- you're an excellent bunch.

  • Well done you!  I don't think I'd ever run on a treadmill (as I don't have a gym membership anyway) but I'd be really worried about falling off it!  I'm quite happy pavement pounding for free.  You have my sympathy for the tomato face, mine is more the colour of spam :)

  • An indoor tomato ! :) Very well done...I think I would be terrified inside running... what would I look at ? :)

    Go you... getting closer :)

  • The thing was, running towards  yourself in a mirror is disconcerting but also useful. My ankles and knees need a stern talking to- they were all over the place. Hey ho, I can worry about technique when I can run 5k without wanting to pass out.

  • Yep..time for style comes later..I still haven't mastered it..☺

    Well done anyway🙂

  • I use the treadmill when the weather is really bad here (gales and horizontal rain for example!). It has been brilliant, especially during January and February and certainly contributed to my success because I didn't have an excuse for not running. Our local community council got funding for a small community gym above the village shop and lots of the locals use it - fantastic resource. I run about 7.5 to 8km/ph on the treadmill but find it hard to reach that outside. I have also used the 'incline' setting on 1 or 2 because I think this helps prepare the legs for the 'hilly' bits outdoors!

  • Nice one! I was wondering how you'd got on on the treadmill - glad it worked out :-)
