Motivate me PLEASE!

Hi all. I was feeling great on this and have reached week5. For some reason I feel shattered today and don’t want to know what week 5 involves. I have the opportunity to climb back under the duvet so do I do that? I’ve got a busy weekend away without my treadmill so need to do week 5 run 1 today or miss until Tuesday. HELP!!!

What I do in this situation is allow myself to not want to do it - but don’t let that stop me doing it. So I can get changed while going ‘I don’t want to go for a run’, procrastinate for a bit while going ‘I don’t want to go for a run’, find my headphones while going ‘I don’t want to go for a run’, get my shoes on while going ‘I don’t want to do this’, and open the door still saying ‘don’t wanna’. But actually once I get started, it’s fine. I just switch off my mind and follow the instructions, and then it’s done and I feel so much better and glad I did it!

So acknowledge your tiredness and reluctance, but don’t let that stop you. You’ve come this far, you can do it! Sending lots of positive vibes...

If you are really shattered and not just being lazy then have a rest day and hit it again on Tuesday with renewed vim and vigour. It is not going to make any difference in the long run (ho ho).

If you are just being lazy, then stop it and get on with it.

Amazing Advise from the two R’s and what a choice to be given, but take both these gems with you whatever you choose.

It is a triple win.

Delay it and you will return turbo charged , do it, because you believe and you know you can and Rainbow has given you a valuable tool. The two R's dual tool.

Enjoy.👏👏🌟

What good advice! Having a day off isn’t going to hurt in the long run as long as it’s not going to turn into a habit. I felt like that this morning and still felt meh after which is unusual. I am glad I went though as at least I achieved my run today and got out. I also ended up doing one of the best runs I’ve done. I know for me personally I would be in danger of not going out again for a while which in turn makes me feel worse. If you’re like me go out as you’ll feel glad you kept it going. If you’re not then firstly well done 👍 and secondly grab a cuppa, put your feet up and have a rest day as it may be your body telling you you need it 😄

Thanks but a bit concerned re not going back to it till Tuesday.

I had a three day rest this week in between runs as my son has been poorly and I had the same worry as you. I was ok today though and ran one of my best runs. Do what’s right for you. Either way it’s not going to stop you from carrying on come Tuesday. It may make you feel a bit less meh though which is what’s important 🙂

I promise you the rest , relax , tension release will bring you back turbo charged.

You will prove it to yourself. But another R has just given you another gem.

Never have doubts, believe in you.

Do not stress it only brings tension into your body and that is our common enemy.

Enjoy.

I hope you took the advice from the 2Rs.. if you felt ill and tired.. then you should have rested.. if not.. then getting out will have sorted you out :)

Get yer runners on and do it, kiddo! The fact that you have posted here means that you will feel rotten until you've done it, so chop chop chop, and come back and tell us when it's finished.

I’m working up to it. I’ve just eaten so will probably go at 6pm to avoid the depressing 6 O’clock news. 😉

Maybe try an evening run if duvet mornings are a temptation. I ran in the evening and prefer it.

I did week 5 run 1 this morning and managed it much better than week 4s runs for some reason. I was feeling the same as you beforehand but feel much more positive now and looking forward to the next challenge. Go for it - you’ll feel so much better knowing that you can beat those gremlins!

Yayyyyyy!!!!! I did it! I did it!!!!

I had a low cal sweet to suck on for the first part as my mouth dries and water doesn’t seem to help. I’m also decent at training dogs so this was my reward for stepping on the tread mill. 😂

I slowed down a touch on the third run but didn’t stop!

It’s in the bag. KERCHING!!!!!

Yay !! Fantastic - you know you can do it now if you get that feeling again 😁

Brilliant, well done! So not only did you manage the challenge of the run itself, but you also beat that huge mental challenge of ‘don’t wanna’ Great stuff! :)

Nice work! I had a feeling you'd take the run, rather than the rest option... you're doing really well ☺

I love that feeling after a good run, when you perhaps had to battle with your gremlins to get out of the door or on the treadmill, but end up being richly rewarded...and then the relaxing shower winds it all up perfectly.

You're at a great point in the programme- keep at it and keep enjoying it!

Just put your running shoes on and go outside, then see what happens. Oftdn getting out of the door is the hardest part. Good luck. Don't give up with the programme. We all have bad days !
