I’m getting bored of the music I run to. Any suggestions of great things to listen to please?
Music?: I’m getting bored of the music I run to... - Couch to 5K
Music?
Music is a very personal choice. You can have great fun creating playlists. I believe Hidden is quite prolific at putting these together.
Take a look on Spotify search for retro runners, or my user name jancanrun and you’ll find quite a few there. I am in the midst of doing a 90s one.
For whatever reason I cant copy my profile url to make it easy for you....
I have a huge library on my phone and what I’ve been doing is instead of a repetitive playlist I’m hitting full shuffle, there’s stuff in there I’ve never heard off!..like some random track seven on a an album I only brought for the first three singles ...be warned though...I’ve also experienced the wrong type of songs, I’ve had Adele crying in my ear and once a selection of Xmas songs came on ...I love these songs , but there is a time and place for a fairytale of New York and somebody like you, and sweating and burning through a 5k is not the place 🙄😂
Really depends on what you're in to...I prefer EDM and very bassy stuff but I know there are those here who would really not like a bit of Skrillex! 😂
I bought a running cd online for about 3 quid. Half was rubbish but I mixed the rest into my usual fave tunes that make me want to move and it works well.
As already said it's a personal choice, some days it's Northern Soul for me but others it's Rock AC/DC etc all depends on my mood that morning really.
Liquid drum and bass all the way for me, love the lush chord changes and sub bass lines and who doesn't like a subtle breakdown. google LSB - All Of My Love (Technicolour & Komatic Remix) to see if it floats your boat.
I love most types of music , I did buy an running album off ITunes only because I haven't quite figured out how to get my play list off my old laptop onto my phone .. Managed to get playlist onto my iPad ?
I need a younger person than me to help me 😊
Norwegian Black Metal and show tunes. Mixed.
I have been running to podcasts - so many brilliant ones to chose from 🧐
I’d echo that. Occasionally music but often I run to podcasts (helps if they make me laugh). Means you getting something new regularly.
Can you recommend some please?
80s indie for me! Stuck in my teenage decade
My daughter offered to make me a new running playlist recently and I accepted, expecting the worst (she is 11). Turns out she is more retro than me. She put Take on Me on it, for goodness sake! It was all right though and made me smile as most of them were there for a reason, silly personal jokes etc. It included It's Like That (Run DMC), some 90s throwback DJ Food, Happy by Pharrell Williams (house full of Minions fans)... Also Que Horas Son by Manu Chao, ostensibly because of the line "me gusta correr" but it made me chortle at how as a very young child she used to repeat over and over in public the line "me gusta marijuana, me gustas tu" to my great shame... It was cheerful, anyway!
I like audiobooks especially for longer runs. Just finished Mythos : the Greek myths retold and narrated by Stephen Fry. Really recommend it. A good book can sometimes get me out the door. No run, no listen!
I would not use audiobooks or podcasts until post graduation tbh. While doing the programme you need to be concentrating on the cues
