Week 5 Run 3

Well, didn't ever think I would be able to run (well, very slow jog) 20 mins without stopping so very happy with that. It is literally at walking pace (only 2.75km over the 30 mins) but can live with that.

I have really tight Achilles and calves - they tighten up within the first couple of mins running. I have just been pushing on and ignoring it figuring it will gradually get better but wondered if anyone had any tips.

Also, am currently doing this programme but want to start jogging outdoors. I know this is much tougher so any tips for the transition?

Congratulations Cath400 on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K,

onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran.

Hya, you ve had exactly same issue, causing plantar fasciitis in sole of foot, I've been rolling my calves out with a rolling pin, if you Google deep tissue massage on calves there are loads of videos, mine were so sore I couldn't run, I'm currently on week 5 run 2

Tennis ball is good too and maybe less fierce than a golf ball!
